Managing assigned cases, including: formation of litigation teams, formulation of litigation strategy, oversight of all litigation activities, marshalling of internal facts, review and editing of all written advocacy, preparation of outside counsel for oral argument and trial, and in all other ways exercising primary responsibility for representation of Microsoft. Frequent and regular communication with outside counsel, and other law department attorneys, paralegals and staff. A minimum of 7 years of demonstrated work experience in general litigation, including first chair responsibility in some cases and some trial experience. Significant responsibility in at least five patent cases preferred. Experience with international patent litigation, trial systems and/or patent system a plus. A demonstrated ability to direct creatively and effectively the defense of a sophisticated client in complex litigation. Knowledge and understanding of trial presentation techniques.
