Help shape the rapidly evolving productivity landscape by working with the Chief Scientist, E+D product leaders, and Microsoft Research to drive the company's collective bold ambitions for productivity forward. The Technical Advisor to the Chief Scientist will be responsible for identifying and pursuing impactful ways to foster a culture of research and experimentation within E+D. This includes working closely with Microsoft Research to bring expertise and insight from research into our products, and building out E+D's own applied research capabilities. The position offers the opportunity for a qualified candidate to shape the role and the Office of the Chief Scientist in a way that will enhance E+D's

Key Responsibilities: Work closely with Microsoft Research to nurture deep connections between research and product teams. Organize programs and events with Microsoft Research and the academic community that foster existing and emerging relationships and drive tech-transfer. Build out E+D's applied research capabilities. Create a culture of experimentation within the organization. Bring together existing applied researchers to share experiences and develop initiatives that will grow the E+D applied research community. Identify processes and infrastructure that will help accelerate experimentation-driven
The role requires technical and product expertise, a perspective on how Microsoft can increase its impact for customers around the world, and the desire to support Microsoft's cultural evolution. Candidates should feel comfortable working with research and engineering groups across the company and be able to evaluate the health of engineering systems, code, and processes. The role also requires significant collaborative work to bring diverse points of view together, build consensus in the face of disagreement, and create partnerships based on trust and mutual understanding.
