We are the Location Inferences team working on building the next generation could-based User Location Service that backs Bing, Cortana, Windows, Outlook and many other Microsoft products. We work closely with partners across the company to deliver the location-driven experiences which empower the user by providing truly assistive capabilities. As part of User Location team, not only you will have a meaningful impact on transforming people's daily lives, you will also have the opportunity to influence and shape up the future location space for the company. We are looking for strong, highly motivated Software Engineers with a passion to work on challenging problems that require processing petabytes of data and building low latency and scalable services that empower many Microsoft products. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in designing, building, and operating services at consumer web scale – 4 nines of availability, 24/7 is desirable.
We are a small, motivated and energetic team tackling hard problems with cutting-edge technologies. As a part of engineering team, you will play a key role to work on different part of stacks, and work closely with many partner teams to build high reliable and scale services, which provide most relevant location to many experiences across Microsoft properties including Bing, Cortana, Windows, Office, etc.
Required: • 3+ years of professional development experience with at least one of C#/C++/C/Java/other programming languages. • Demonstrate exceptional problem solving and debugging skills. • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical discipline. Preferred: • Demonstrate ability and passion for building large scale distribute service. • Demonstrate skills and ability to effectively collaborate with other team members and across teams. • Experience in geographic system or spatial indices is a plus. • Experience with data analytics or geospatial data processing is a plus.
