Microsoft's Core Operating System and Intelligent Edge (COSINE) team is responsible for the security of some of Microsoft's largest and most important services including Microsoft Update, Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Devices and more. We are seeking a Service Engineer as we grow our operations team to support the new Microsoft Managed Desktop (MMD) offering. Service Engineers in this role are responsible to quickly and accurately respond to the problems our customers are experiencing, create solutions that scale, and proactively identify problem indicators and take action before issues occur.
The Service Engineer will be part of an operations team that performs problem management and maintenance operations to our MMD customers from all over the world. This is a new initiative presenting an opportunity to build a program and develop creative solutions for modern problems. Work on this team isn't just about fixing one system but thinking at scale to help fix or prevent problems affecting hundreds of thousands of client systems. We don't want to just fix problems and get people back to a "green" state- we aim to get our customers back to a better state.
Required qualifications: B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Applied Science or equivalent experience 2+ years performing troubleshooting duties for Windows clients Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation is required Rotational shift schedules may be required Preferred qualifications: Previous job experience in a large enterprise in a customer-facing service, engineering or delivery role Subject matter expertise of the Windows 10 operating system Demonstrated ability to solve diverse operational problems and develop/execute
