JOB DESCRIPTION The AWS Hardware Engineering team is driving rapid innovation in the server and storage infrastructure used by Amazon Web Services. Our designs are fundamentally changing the data center, providing operational and financial benefits that are critical to the success of the AWS business and its millions of customers. Our Software Engineers solve challenging technology problems, and take big bets on new concepts, enabling AWS services to continue to revolutionize the industry. The ideal candidate for this role will be an innovative self-starter. You will be an SSD firmware expert with experience in making architectural tradeoffs to optimize SSD performance for a variety of use cases. You will work with engineers across the company as well as external companies and lead firmware development efforts on custom solid-state devices. · Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field. · 3+ years of software development experience· 5+ years of experience developing firmware in C for low level storage hardware interfaces · Experience with SSD concepts such as wear-leveling, garbage collection, read disturb as well as overall SSD hardware architecture · Knowledge of high speed storage technology at the HW and firmware/driver levels · Hands on development experience with one or more of the following protocol stacks including block storage (NVMe, SAS/SATA), networking (Ethernet, TCP/IP) and interface
