Microsoft Surface is working to redefine the way people use computers for millions of everyday users around the world. We are looking for a talented Industrial Designer with strong skills in design thinking and building extraordinary experiences. The candidate will be part of a team that is responsible for guiding and designing the vision for Surface. We're looking for someone who's forward-thinking and willing to challenge and provoke new ways to connect with our consumers.

He/she must have strong experience with identifying relevant customer, cultural and commercial insights and translating these insights into compelling design solutions. This position requires excellent design, communication, and organization skills, and the ability to work across teams. He/she will also be expected to quickly broaden your technical understanding as new technologies become available.

The candidate will work closely with a team of designers, researchers, brand marketers and engineers in a highly collaborative environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills are required. Requirements:
o A minimum of 3 years work experience in a product design
o Knowledge of industrial design, 3D surface development, mechanical engineering, and product development
o Proficient in 3D applications (Alias, Rhino, Solidworks, or Pro/E)
o A strong portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in successful product design, versatility with design and rapid prototyping tools and methods, and a strong understanding of design and creative process is required.
o Consumer centric design process background with proven ability to deliver design for product families that align with brand vision.
o Strong verbal and visual communication skills.
o A bachelor's degree in industrial design or product design or similar field is required.
o Some International travel required

A portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity and proven experience in telling stories, building UI models, generating detailed wire frames, developing prototypes and delivering comprehensive specifications. We are looking for a UX Designer to help reimagine our experiences across a wide range of devices and input methods. You'll be at the forefront of design activities by defining how people interact, create and consume content for Surface.
In this role you'll engage in cross-team collaboration with the best of user research, visual and interaction design, program management and software engineering from conceptual design through implementation and release. Requirements:
o A BA/BS or higher degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Communication Arts, or field related degree.
o Possess deep knowledge and application of user-centered philosophies and interaction design best practices
o 4+ years (post education) related UX design experience in product, company or agency.

Desired Skills
o Proven experience and solid working knowledge of information architecture, task-flow models, state-transition diagrams, storyboarding, wire framing, creating design specifications and guidelines.
o Proficient using Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop
o Ability to create and assess design solutions based on user goals and key scenarios.
o Problem solving, creative, and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross functionally with other teams (Engineering, Research, Program Management & Marketing)
o Can create/ prototype design stories that articulate the desired user experience to the project team and stakeholders.
o Strong collaboration influencing skills, proven ability to lead and inspire.
o Self-motivated, directed, and independent
o Have a passion for quality, innovation, and world-class design.
o Offer active thought leadership in User Experience issues and trends.
o An ability to work through ambiguity and multiple priorities.
