Join Microsoft in this amazing opportunity as a Display Supplier Base Engineer (SBE) where you will have upfront engagement with product development teams to provide influence into display design specifications and supplier selection. This is truly a unique position that allows for high impact and the ability to lead cross-functional organizations through a multitude of decisions. The Manufacturing, and Supply Chain (MSC) group is looking for a Display Supply Base Engineer specializing in display. In this role you will be a part of the display manufacturing process design and supplier selection to achieve the most efficient and cost effective technical solutions. You must be able to understand the technical performance expectations of the technology and accurately predict production performances. In this role you will establish optimal processing parameters for each step of the production process (i.e. cycle time, yield, alternative replacement, etc.). You will influence design specifications for display manufacturing optimization to support category management deliverables.
This role will require you to ensure completeness and comprehensive product specifications and process parameters prior to production as well as clearly documenting the technical aspects of the suppliers' production expectations. This position deals greatly with supplier engagement. You will be the procurement engineer leading the identification of supply base capabilities as well as leading the suppliers' process engineering team to design optimal processes to produce. Quarterly/Semi-Annual Executive Management Reviews to identify market technology trends that influence product design will be a large part of this role. You will influence change management to continuously improve efficiency and performances via repeatable processes, people growth and elimination of work duplication.

Major Responsibilities:
o Serve as the component technical lead in the Sourcing Group, maintaining knowledge base for applicable components and resolving all component-specific technical issues
o Drive Preferred Vendor List (PVL) adherence, identifying opportunities to leverage PVL suppliers for new sourcing projects, while pushing exploration for innovative new solutions to drive a competitive edge for products
o Assist design engineers in the selection of components - participate in design reviews for component selection and standardization
o Provide technical expertise for alternate sourcing recommendations
o Act as the key interface between Sourcing and the Suppliers' Design and Engineering Teams o Ensure Component Quality and Nonconformance Dispositions
o Coordinate technology/roadmap meetings with component manufacturers for engineering, as requested
o Ensure component compliance with relevant environmental and regulatory requirements and support initiatives to build sustainable and eco-conscious products
o Create and establish Component Qualification Plan and Component Traceability Plan
o Support Manufacturing in resolving issues relating to obsolete components, substitutions and material shortages
o Support failure analysis for component issues by working with supply chain for cost reductions and second sourcing for components
o Coordinate qualifications and verifications with Development, NPI, and SQE
o Project Manage implementation and revision of repair process templates, process sheets and specifications
o Work hands on testing new components; perform evaluation, performance, and certification testing; author clear documentation for testing, evaluation, and corrective actions.
o Assure Product specifications align with supplier capabilities Education/Other Requirements:
o Advanced engineering degrees or equivalent experiences.
o Must be an ENGINEERING/PROCESS PROFESSIONAL with strong BUSINESS acumen skills.
o Quick learner of Microsoft systems and processes. Agile & Adaptable.
o 10+ years of industry experience or equivalent experience preferred
o Knowledge in display engineering preferred
o Must be a Business Professional with strong engineering expertise
