Become a key member of the Visual Studio Online Services development in Raleigh/Durham, NC and build the next generation of development tools in the cloud! This opportunity allows you to 1) work with the latest technologies, 2) work with and learn from some of the best engineers in the industry, and 3) have a big impact on the software development industry.

VSO provides software development teams with version control, build automation, project and bug management, social engineering experiences and more. We use agile development methods and ship new features every three weeks to VisualStudioOnline.com, which is built on Azure and growing fast with 2.5M users already.

We're looking for a talented developer who seeks big challenges as part of a strong team. Here in North Carolina we contribute to open source Git tools and build great workflows on top of them. We also build VSO's build automation, web front end, administration and operations, the Eclipse plugin, and the core server architecture for the service. You'll need great collaboration skills and the ability to work independently to deliver well thought out solutions to tough problems. Previous experience designing and implementing RESTful services that scale to handle large volumes of data and/or experience in building sophisticated user experiences are desirable.

VSO makes use of a wide range of technologies, so you'll have the opportunity to learn new stuff from industry experts and go deep or broad. Our key technologies are C#, Azure, SQL, and ASP.NET including MVC and REST on the backend. On the front end we use jQuery, JavaScript and TypeScript to build out an awesome user experience on the web, WPF for VS, and SWT for Eclipse.

The ideal candidate will have:
o BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent industry work experience
o 2+ years of industry development experience in C#, Java or C++
o Knowledge of .Net Framework, ASP.NET, SQL, REST services, Javascript (or TypeScript)
o Great problem solving and design skills, and passion for quality
o Knowledge and passion for Agile development practices is a plus

Required basic qualifications:
The candidate should have 2 or more years of experience developing production software using C/C++, C#, or Java
Strong object-oriented design skills
Experience with one or more of the following: WPF, Javascript, Ajax, JQuery, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, SOAP, REST, .NET, SQL

A BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent is preferred.
