Are you passionate about audio technologies? Are you a digital music junkie? Would you be interested in working in a team responsible for the design, development, and quality of the next generation audio experiences, spanning from how audio is captured, processed, edited, and rendered across all your devices? Our team, in the Operating Systems Group, is looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer II to help us light up the core audio platform components being used across PC, Tablet, Xbox, Phone, HoloLens, and others. If you enjoy listening to, manipulating, composing, and sharing your music, we have something to do with it.

The Position

The ideal candidate has a passion for all things audio and big data - in this role you will be responsible for the design and development of product features, supporting tools, apps, as well as conducting data analysis and producing insights that originate from a wide range of applications and devices running on top of our audio platform. The challenges include data modeling, instrumentation, telemetry, data analysis at very large scales, machine learning, and visualization; which are required to draw insights and drive enhancements back to the product. A great fit in this environment requires you to be creative, flexible, collaborative, and passionate about delighting customers.


Qualifications:

- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience as a Software Engineer
- A BS, MSc or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong proficiency in C++ and/or C#
- Experience in audio, digital signal processing (DSP), audio drivers, windows audio platform, AAC, AC3, DTS, FLAC, ALAC, AMR, MP3, WMA or other audio codecs is a plus
- Good understanding of databases, SQL, data mining, and machine learning (desirable)
- Desire to solve complex technical problems
- A passion for customers and drive for results
- Great communication and collaboration skills
- High capacity to learn and adapt to new technologies and engineering processes quickly
