The Cloud Server Infrastructure Engineering (CSI-E) team within WSSC (Windows Server and System Center) is responsible for server hardware definition, design and development of Server and Rack Infrastructure engineering for Microsoft's online services. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for our cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership (TCO).

To support this effort we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who can support our CSI group in Redmond.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas -
E2000 power distribution, Compute/Storage, Chassis Manager board power design.

Drive detailed of board level voltage regulators and board layout for product development that fulfills the product business goals while meeting schedule, cost and performance goals.

Execution of detailed electrical design through system-level design and engineering, validation, and manufacturing activities at contract manufacturers and suppliers

Interface across multiple product development disciplines: Hardware, Mechanical, Firmware, Usability, EMC, Thermal, Acoustics, Tooling, Program Management, Reliability, Compliance, Quality, Manufacturing, and Procurement.

Detailed project planning to successfully execute on delivery dates.
Manage the detail design development with internal and external resources, and provide tactical contribution and subject matter leadership throughout the conceptual and detail design stages of product development.

Assessment and recommendations of emerging technologies and technology roadmaps.

Qualification Summary:
o BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
o 5+ Years Electrical Engineering board power design and power design and analysis experience
o Strong product development experience (5+ years), in high-volume, electronics)
Mathcad, Spice and MATLAB/Sigrtiy/PowerDC/PowerSI (or equivalent simulation tools)
o Schematic capture and layout using Verilog/Cadence/Mentor (or equivalent tools)
o Board level debugging, qualification.
o Demonstrated competencies in power design on consumer electronics products that successfully reached volume production.
o Ability to work independently and under pressure - must be a team player.
o Excellent communication (written and oral) and collaboration skills.

To support this effort we are looking for a Server and Infrastructure Operations Engineer who can support our Product Deployments and Sustenance through Server Remote Management within our CSI group in Redmond.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for Deployment and Sustenance (Operations) of Server and Data Center Infrastructure Products developed by Microsoft's CSI team.
Deployment Phase Responsibilities:
o Work with ODMs, OEMs and vendors to support large scale server manufacturing and deployments.
o Support server scale deployments through tools automation (scripting) using C, C++, C#, PowerShell, Python or Perl.
o Use the developed tool automation to check and then work with Microsoft Product Groups to deploy Server FW (BIOS, BMC, Chassis Manager etc.) and OS images with associated configuration settings.
o Support validation activities in a lab environment, at rack integration facilities as well as for server hardware deployments in data centers.
Post Deployment Sustenance Responsibilities:
o Work with Microsoft internal teams to support Server Operations through CSI Diagnostic and Deployment tools. Interface and interact with servers and infrastructure through the management network to root cause server fleet issues to minimize server downtime.
o Work with CSI Sustaining and Product Development Teams to manage the Life Cycle of the deployed servers from Deployment to End Of Life.
Triage and document bugs (during deployment as well as sustenance phase) through TFS (Team Foundation Server), and then work with CSI engineering teams to root cause and resolve.
Focus on continuous improvement through optimum level of process and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science (Master of Science degree preferred).
5+ years' of hands-on experience (testing, validation, design and development or sustaining) with x64 Industry Standard Server or related products from OEMs or ODM Partners.
Hands on Programming skills with C, C++ or C# and scripting skills with PowerShell, Python or Perl is essential.
Passion for server problem solving in a high volume data center environment is essential.
Individual effectiveness skills such as discipline, time management, decision making, planning and organizing work, summarizing results through technical reports (TFS, MS Office) are highly desired.
Self-motivated individual, must be able work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment and across the team of engineers.
Must be able to plan work, and work to a plan adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving Environment.

5 years or greater industry experience managing the development of electromechanical devices, from definition to delivery

Familiarity with the key elements of x64 server architecture

The Cloud Server Infrastructure Firmware Development (CSI-FW) team within WSSC (Windows Server and System Center) is responsible for server hardware definition, design and development of Server and Rack Infrastructure engineering for Microsoft's online services. The CSI-FW development team is seeking a talented software development engineer. You will be responsible for implementing software changes in device drivers which extend the capabilities of Microsoft Cloud Server. You will be interacting with internal business groups to collect requirement and help train them on new features. You will be also leading the OS development for new incubation projects, working with silicon and software industry partners to drive new initiatives and standardization efforts. This role requires strong communication skills, excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills, including isolating and resolving software defects found in currently shipping products. As a Software Engineer, you have strong design and coding skills, quick learning abilities, and confidence to ship reliable software. This role entails working across different teams and with partners and suppliers to recommend improvements, resolve software defects, drive standardization efforts, and collect requirements.

Qualifications:
- A BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in software or hardware development related fields
- A minimum of 4 years of experience with C/C++
- 5+ years of embedded SW development or driver development experience (preferably for Windows OS)
- 5+ years' experience debugging software
- A sound track-record of shipping products and having been through at least one development cycle
- Experience in the design, implementation, debugging and testing of operating system drivers (Kernel mode and User mode)
- Familiarity with debugging common firmware, kernel, bootloader, and plumbing layer interaction issues

Desired Experience:
- Ability to handle the debugger well to quickly identify and resolve issues spanning multiple subsystems
- Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes or bus analyzer tools
- Familiarity with I2C, SPI, USB or UART buses
- Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven
- High tolerance to ambiguity and ability make progress in the face of it
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions (PM, Test, Hardware and Firmware Engineers, etc.)

Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and shipping high quality software
- Proven and demonstrable skill in C++, C# or Java. Experience with GIT and Jenkins are an added plus.
- Strong problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills, advanced design and development skills
- Experience with Azure services and data storage is a plus. Experience with Autopilot is very appealing.
- Experience working through the full product cycle from initial design to final product
- BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience
