Microsoft is reinventing how it engages the US Startup ecosystem. We are looking for a highly motivated, visible, and senior Technical Evangelist to lead our Startup plans in the Silicon Valley Metro. In this position you'll become the go to person on all Startup related strategies and activities from working with Startups 1:1 to being the main point of contact for our partners and their ecosystems.

As a member of national Startup team you will engage the community through live events, community support, influencer engagement, online scale, and creative new programs to both enable greater reach and depth of engagement. This is a highly technical role with the mission of engaging and inspiring the broad community of Startups and their founders to foster adoption of Microsoft technologies.

The visibility for this role is significant both outside and inside Microsoft and will require a candidate who holds strong relations within the Metro's startup community and can regularly engage with Sr. Microsoft executives. By joining the US Developer Experience (DX) Startup team you will own the responsibility of enabling Microsoft to become an important, creditable, and proven partner in the Startup ecosystem.

This Technical Evangelist is responsible for:
- Bringing forward Microsoft's commitment to the OSS community and demonstrating our capabilities through hands on workshops, 1st and 3rd party events, and 1:1 engagements with Startups and their founders.
- Defining and creating technical assets such as sample code, contributions to open source projects, demos, and how-to guidance for use at in-person events and online
- Delivering impactful technical content at events and through online channels
- Engaging the startup developer communities in person and online
- Developing relationships with the local startup community and influencers
- Drive adoption of Microsoft platforms including Microsoft Azure, Windows, Windows Phone, and web development in the local startup community.
- Ability to work a non-traditional schedule at times (startup hours) to ensure we are able to meet with developers in their environments.

- Strong, proven, technical skills and understanding of open source tools and platforms (including client, cloud, web and DevOps technologies).).
- Demonstrated technical acumen and ability to learn and teach others about Microsoft's platform.
- Great communication and presentation skills (you should like presenting!)
- Ability to communicate effectively with both startup founders and technical staff
- A track record of writing and debugging code
- Passion for technology and software development
- A Bachelor's Degree (B.S./B.A.) is a requirement for the role (Computer Science preferred)
- Working knowledge of the startup ecosystem including the local community.
- Previous Startup experience
- Moderate travel is required (25%)
