Hardware manufacturers will ship well over 3 billion OEM devices into the global market this year. As part of Microsoft's evolution to a mobile first - cloud first company, the OEM team is recruiting for an experienced product management leader to drive the Embedded, Internet of Things and emerging device categories business areas for the division.

In this role, the successful candidate will help drive our partner value proposition across form factors, bringing together our product group messaging, partner economics and market understanding to drive a compelling business case for existing and new OEMs to bet on the Windows platform. It's the OEM division's mission to ensure that we compete for share with Windows, drive services coverage and conversion, and help our partners sell their devices into the channel and to end customers. Specifically this role focuses on the Windows Embedded / Windows for IoT product line up - including the operating system, as well as Azure Intelligent System Service that partners can leverage to deliver solutions to customers. With the Microsoft IoT solution, we are focused on delivering customer value through enabling businesses to connect their new and existing devices with cloud services to capture information, deliver insight to the business, and secure, manage and update those devices as needed.

This role plays is central to ensuring that we are partnering with the product group to bring the right product offerings, programs and skus to market that enable OEMs to successfully bet their business on Windows for scale and profit. Having a strong technical and strategic understanding of the market place, players, solutions and competitive landscape is key. Also we're looking for candidates who can see the bigger picture, understand our partner's business models and perspective, and drive an integrated partner value proposition and secure support.

Specific role duties will include driving core product management duties within OEM for the Embedded and new emerging categories space.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Driving sku and offer strategy, leading our segment launch efforts for new major releases, driving business insight and partnering with the OEM embedded sales organization to lead across fiscal year milestones (planning, executive reviews), and account team product and marketing support.
- From a strategic standpoint you will partner closely with the product, sales and engineering teams to have a point of view and input into the right solutions mix, drive roadmap disclosure milestones, and ultimately help secure partner support for future waves of the product and the devices our partners plan to build.
- We are looking for experienced product management candidates who have a strong technical understanding, have experience with the OEM ecosystem, and are able to think strategically and at the same time ensure that all core product management elements are executed across the division to support the business.
- Experience in delivering partner value propositions and presentations, evangelizing products for internal and external audiences, and accountability for a product or solution area end to end are very well regarded experiences for this role.

Responsibilities:
In this role you will:
- Partner closely with the product team and OEM embedded sales to manage the product portfolio ensuring that we have the right offerings and programs to be successful and hit our revenue and unit goals.
- Be the subject matter expert on core product management areas such as skus, pricing, business model and strategy, competitive landscape and appropriate actions Microsoft needs to take to secure share.
- Oversee the launch motion for major releases including ensuring that all parts of the launch execution framework are executed (comms, operations, channel readiness materials, exec reporting of launch status)
- Roll out new programs, offerings across partners, monitor feedback, drive change into our offerings and programs as needed
- Work with the product teams on long range planning including new offer development, pricing, skus, incentives and other channel requirements
- Incubate new offerings to pilot and drive incremental business opportunities across the stack. Innovate on our products, licensing, go to market, partnering model

Experience, Education, Skill and Behaviour Requirements:
Essential:
- Undergraduate degree in business or technology
- 15 years industry experience in the channel, OEM or devices space
- Strong strategic skills and IQ - ability to quickly understand issues, scope requirements, drive viewpoints and support across divisions, map out the plan for success and implement
- Outstanding executive composure, cross- group collaboration and communications skills
- Self-starter, highly motivated to overcome challenges and remain focused on the solution
- Team player, strong collaborator and an inspiring leader to the team and peers in the org

Desired:
- Postgraduate degree in business
- Direct experience working with OEM partners, either at Microsoft or in the industry
- Experience selling and successfully landing devices into key channels (retail, operator, VAR, business all valuable)
- Capability to model channel economics, understand competitive dynamics and OEM value prop, push on the right solution for Microsoft and our partners
- Community sales leadership and ability to motivate sellers (e.g. field or HQ sales, direct or indirect)
- Some travel will be required in this role to support field activities and partner meetings.

In this role, you will partner with upstream and downstream stakeholders to enable core sales motions; translate business requirements into systems definition and implementation for device portfolio tools and device programs including Featured Devices; serve as day-to-day OEM Marketing technical liaison across channels and divisions to ensure we have insight into future infrastructure requirements for device sales motion, reporting and analytics to win share and drive market impact.

The role requires business systems architecture and programming knowledge with a successful history of leading technical deployments across a virtual team. The ideal candidate has expertise in both data architecture projects, and business process architecture, while bringing operations management fundamentals to drive business intelligence and technical solutions. An additional benefit is a strong device and channel acumen. This person will play a large role in the reporting of device portfolio views, enabling core sales programs, and connecting our infrastructure and tools with other company assets. Strong planning, program management and project management skills, cross-team collaboration, and effective communication management are critical. Building on that insight, the ideal candidate will have industry understanding and will become a trusted partner to the broader OEM marketing organization.

This role has significant business impact, with this team being central to the transformation we're undergoing in OEM, evolving to be portfolio leaders and true device sellers. Scope includes all device types, from IoT and the smallest network sensors, to phones and phablets, tablets, PCs and new/emerging form factors.
