Role & Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager who has a proven track record through several product cycles. You will be responsible for leading the definition and development from concept to prototype to implementation for technologies in Surface products. You will work with internal / external partner teams, product management, architects, development, quality assurance, and user experience teams to align objectives, create functional specifications, implement a plan, and ultimately deliver a high-quality product. The successful candidate will have effective written and oral communication skills, excellent cross-organizational and project management skills and thrive in a highly innovative, evolving and ambiguous environment.

Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years working as a technical program manager or other engineering discipline defining, driving, and shipping products or services through multiple ship cycles
Held responsibility for the creation of functional specifications, project schedules and building plans to deliver
Enthusiastic, attention to detail, results oriented, organized, motivated and self-driven
Strong strategic leadership and analytical skills
Solid critical thinking and questioning skills
High degree of flexibility - willing to fill in the gaps rather than relying on others
Strong electrical and or mechanical background with a passion for shipping product
Experience with hardware design is a plus
Experience with hardware partner development is a plus
Experience with one or more of the following: System integration, PC architecture, SOCs, CPUs and memory technologies, wireless technologies (WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE), Touch and or Displays.
Bachelor Degree Required

Responsibilities:
Define product investments to enable vision
Justify and prioritize the feature set against the vision and strategy
Write detailed functional or requirement specifications that enable product engineering to execute
Align investments with internal / external partner teams
Evangelize the feature set across engineering, business and senior leadership
Drive the execution and delivery using common engineering tools, triage, tracking and reporting aligning to product milestones
Anticipate risks; assess, mitigate, and manage accordingly
Organize and present program reviews/status to engineering, business, and senior management
Develop and protect intellectual property
Domestic and international travel required

Role and Opportunity
The Surface Wireless Strategy and Business Management team is responsible for collating the clearest, most comprehensive view of the Surface global mobile broadband portfolio business which includes fine tuning the concept country, channel and product fit assumptions from the planning BCR/BOP stage and driving a tighter connection in new product execution motions with Marketing and CCG.
The Surface Wireless Strategy and Business Management team is focusing its efforts in 4 key functional areas as it pertains to mobile broadband: Business Management, Program Management, Strategic Technology and Portfolio Planning. As a member of this team, you will be expected to be responsible for critical topics within these functional areas, working closely with our Strategy and Planning teammates and broader Surface team members in Development, Marketing and Finance.
This role is one that relies strongly on an ability to collaborate with a wide range of disciplines, decipher disparate market, technology or competitive data points and make clear proposals that will directly influence our future.
Initial Key Responsibilities
Analytical study of mobile broadband CE category to form a clear position for Surface on the expected product volume, ideal channel(s) and price sensitivity for products within the portfolio.
Identify unmet opportunities of mobile broadband-enabled product to be brought into the portfolio planning arena that fit within the vision of Surface.
Partner with Program Management and Marketing to ensure Surface is managing the most efficient SKU and product definition to maximize the market opportunity in all channels where mobile broadband products will be assorted.
Become an expert in the channel dynamics of the mobile broadband portfolio to lay a highly accurate foundational plan for how we will achieve the highest business success for each product.
Act as a champion / project leader for key strategic topics.

Key Qualifications:
Must have at least 5 years of experience in consumer products in at least one of the following functions: Product Planning, Product Management, Product Marketing or Program Management.
3-5 years of mobile broadband knowledge and experience through OEM or Operator is preferred.
Solid analytical thinking, future vision / forecasting and an ability to clearly articulate thought are key personality traits.
10+ years of related work experience.
Strong track record of collaborating across teams requiring hard and soft skills, as well as up and down the organizational hierarchy.
Strong project management, communication and presentation skills.
BS degree required from engineering, technology or business department preferred.

Role & Opportunity:
Key interface with 3rd party vendors to manage and drive multiple highly complex projects which involve key development initiatives.
Collaborate with co-located and multisite teams in product globalization, customer issue prioritization and resolution, to successfully take the product to global markets.
Have deep ownership of end to end commitments, interacting with multiple disciplines in the organization. Closely collaborate with requirements management, key engineering leads from HW, SW and Test to ensure smooth execution of the program.
Actively manage and clearly communicate schedules, plans and program risks not only to engineering but also executive level audiences.
Directly contribute to design, development/ integration, unit testing, and debugging across the platform.
Drive/Lead cross functional teams to generate use cases, technical feasibility analysis to develop and define processes / requirements to ensure compliance with operator requirements.
Interact with customers and handle product related issues, mobile broadband related tests, support IOT and Field test activities.
Establish and drive vendor engagement relationships with Surface 3rd party vendors. Ensure vendor related bugs are driven to resolution, root caused & communicated back to program & customer.

Qualifications
BS degree in EE or CS; MS preferred
At least 8 years of program and/or product experiences in the wireless industry with proven experience. Development management experience is a plus
4-6 years of product development experience, with at least 4 years of combined experience with CDMA, GSM, UMTS, LTE technology
Demonstrated track record in development and deployment of products and new technologies, as well as process development and execution.
Demonstrated proficiency with project management tools and techniques
Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Tools
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communications skills
Team-oriented approach with the desire to both teach and learn from others
Proven ability to build relationships across the organization and work independently
Excellent judgment and the ability to handle escalated situations.

- Identify, document, communicate, and build consensus around a set of investments and scenarios across multiple teams. Manage challenging tradeoffs between product features and schedule.
- Drive definition and approval of key metrics around understanding customers' relationship with content, towards improved discovery and enhanced consumption experiences.
- Drive, from conception to release, creation of a service engineering model in which other teams can leverage investments
- Drive, from conception to release, significant new user experience features within discovery and enhanced consumption.
- Partner with multiple other internal teams to develop execution plans. This includes influencing, as well as being influenced by, software and hardware partners across Microsoft developing additional components of this overall product.
