We are looking for a passionate, high energy individual to help build the infrastructure that powers the world's largest online services.

The Cloud Server Infrastructure Engineering (CSI-E) team is responsible for server hardware definition and design for Microsoft's online services. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for our cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership (TCO).

You will work with hardware, software and service engineers, data center managers, supply chain managers, server manufacturers, component suppliers and others to develop the next generation of server hardware and peripherals to power the Microsoft cloud.

Role and Responsibilities

- Partner with Engineering team members to gather and define design objectives and goals

- Partner with Sourcing team members to identify, evaluate and select suppliers

- Guide the qualification of electronic or mechanical devices

- Provide cross functional leadership to a broader virtual team

- Be the focal point for the selection of components (HDD, SSD, memory, etc) used to drive our cloud servers

- Establish and/or refine processes to enable a common set of components across the server fleet

- Forecast and manage budget allocations for your projects

- Define schedules and drive the project to successful completion observing the schedules defined

Skills and Qualifications

- Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar field (or similar experience)

- 7 years or greater industry experience managing the development of electromechanical devices, from definition to delivery

Strong ability to work across multiple organizations

Familiarity with the key elements of x64 server architecture

- Ability to take ownership, receiving guidance when appropriate, of assigned projects and be responsible for meeting development commitments

- Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms

- Must be able to plan work and work to your plan, adapting as necessary, in a rapidly evolving environment
