They Skype for Business (formerly known as Lync) client team is accountable for delivering high quality, enterprise grade, cutting edge communication experiences. We are looking for an experienced Senior Program Manager to drive the product evolution of next-gen Lync desktop product experiences. This role is directly responsible for the user experiences, customer value proposition, business value, and program management execution related to our desktop portfolio. This position requires a deep and proven background in translating diverse customer needs into high quality product offerings, influencing and shaping the future of real-time collaboration, making sound ROI analysis and trade off, driving our agile project execution, and creating economic returns.

Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

o Strong user-focused end-to-end design thinking
o Product and analytics smarts - great instincts on how to make the right tradeoffs based on quant and qual data
o Extensive and proven track record in Program Management or technical Product Management
o Familiarity with VoIP, media, Windows, Client/Server infrastructure are a strong plus.
o Ability to deeply engage with customers/partners, and building a collaborative working relationship with development, test, product planning, and partner organizations.
o Self-motivated, self-directed and able to influence, lead and motivate others.
o Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and great team player

o BS/MS in Computer preferred

We are looking for a strong hands-on technical product manager to help us build the real-time media infrastructure services to power global communications for Skype.

This position will be responsible for driving engineering teams responsible for the development and operations of next generation services that power rich communication scenarios such as group video calling, interop with legacy networks and devices and programmable interactive experiences of the future that we are building today, all at global scale and volume. This role requires a solid understanding of web service design, separation of concerns architecture, real-time communication networking protocols used for voice and video, and the operational considerations of running mission critical services across the world.

Since teamwork is critical to our success, you must have great communication and teaming skills and be able to work in a high performance team with minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to develop and evangelize strategy documents, functional specifications and design recommendations are expected. This role requires driving complex issues and features across team and organizational boundaries with end-to-end thinking and focus on the user experience.

Requirements/Qualifications:

5+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager or Engineering Lead and played roles in different parts of the development process including design/planning, co-ordination, execution, shipping and maintenance. The ideal candidate will also have gone through the several phases in the product cycle and been part of at least 1-2 major product releases from design to ship using agile development practices. An MS or PhD in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience is also required.

Experience must include the following:

- Strong problem solving and leadership skills to prioritize work for a team of engineers
- Experience in building services/systems that can serve Millions/Billions of users
- Passion for technology and quality software development

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with production services on Azure, REST API design, RTP/RTCP, Hadoop or COSMOS, WCF, and VXML or other programmable voice/video APIs.
