SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MARKETING - MINECRAFT

The Xbox team is changing the face of entertainment & looking for passionate individuals who are energized about shaping our future direction.

Minecraft is one of the most popular video games of all time, with more than 100 million downloads on the PC alone. Minecraft inspires millions to create together, connects people across the globe, and fosters a community that is among the most active and passionate in the world. As part of Microsoft's recent acquisition of Mojang, we are building a small team in Redmond that will partner closely with Mojang to grow the Minecraft community and nurture the franchise.

The Senior Director of Marketing will provide thought leadership and strategic direction around all aspects of marketing including digital and retail software programs, licensed merchandise, strategic partnerships, and consumer events. The Marketing team will collaborate closely with our Production, Business Development, PR, Finance, and Studios leadership teams to grow Minecraft into one of the top global entertainment brands. This role requires strong business acumen, a clear understanding of digital and retail marketing, and an entrepreneurial attitude to be successful. The ideal candidate has a CEO mindset, experience building long-lasting brands/franchises consumers love, and the ability to balance P&L growth strategies against clear brand principles. Equally important is the ability to effectively lead and build consensus among a diverse group of stakeholders at Mojang and Xbox.

Specific responsibilities include:
Relationship Building - Build and nurture strong relationships with studios, developers, and our global marketing organization.
Team Leadership - Coach and grow a high performing team and steward thoughtful career planning with employees.
Marketing Strategy - Partner with Studios and Global Marketing teams to develop world class marketing campaigns against a robust product roadmap.
Strategic Planning - Partner with Studios, Finance, and Business Development teams to develop long-range plans and the required budget and key performance metrics necessary to achieve them.
Pricing and Promotions - Work with Studios and Global Marketing teams on pricing and promotional strategies to drive the business around a consumer-first philosophy.
Consumer Insight - Partner with Studios and Research teams to develop customer insights that help inform marketing tactics and long term investments.

Qualifications
10+ years of business and consumer marketing/PR experience across large scale consumer brands
Passion for gaming and entertainment required
Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate and develop high-performing teams
Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical skills and problem identification / resolution skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to effectively lead cross-departmental teams and articulate complex topics at varying levels of detail.
Experience with Microsoft business and finance mechanisms strongly preferred.
MBA degree preferred
