The Customer Experience Marketing team within the Office Division is looking for a Senior Marketing Manager to develop and manage the global customer acquisition and media strategies for our Office 365 commercial customers.

Office365, a cloud-based subscription service, is critical to our business growth. Office continues to invest in the infrastructure and marketing to transform into a successful subscription business. New customer acquisition and lead generation play critical roles in the customer lifecycle for our subscriptions. This position plays a key role in driving real impact to the business.

The core function of this role is to develop a global performance marketing strategy and execution for acquiring net new small business customers while testing and executing programs globally. This role will also partner with the commercial product marketing team as a digital media subject matter experts to deliver innovative mid/upper funnel programs. The ideal candidate will have passion in three areas; agency management and global collaboration/coordination; driving business results through digital media channels; and digital analytics and innovation.

Responsibilities include:

Develop the Global Direct Acquisition Strategy and Programs to support Office 365 subscriptions for Small Business customers. Investment continues to grow in this area as performance is delivered. There is a lot of opportunity to identify and execute new digital media channels and build and optimize existing channels to attract new customers.

Manage Search Engine Marketing (SEM) for all of Office commercial campaigns and evergreen programs while coordinating with Office consumer, Microsoft Online Store, and other cross company SEM stakeholders. Develop strategies and optimize to drive small business direct acquisition.

Develop a global portfolio of direct acquisition marketing channels and optimize on response and cost per acquisition (CPA).

Test new direct acquisition channels in select markets and roll out and scale programs that work globally. Programs could include affiliate models, lead generation, partnerships. Develop infrastructure to support scaled programs.

Manage performance of direct acquisition channels and drive to an overall net new acquisition goal.

Provide input into value proposition of the small business product to optimize for the direct channels.

Manage digital ad creative development, testing, and research.

Manage the creative and media agencies to deliver high quality direct acquisition campaigns.

Provide guidance/governance to the field and internal marketing partners globally to execute programs locally.

Work collaboratively with the Direct Business Management team to deliver profitable return and hit subscriber goals; with the web marketing team to ensure optimization of trial sign up and purchase; with web BI team to refine tagging and tracking strategy to drive real-time optimizations and accurate reporting; with Small and Medium Size business segment team (SMB) to complement their acquisition efforts through partner; the Customer Experience team across lead nurture, trial conversion, the engagement and retention lifecycles; with Analytics and Data and Marketing Platform teams to ensure targeting, segmentation, measurement and marketing infrastructure in place; with Business Planning and Engineering to ensure value proposition is optimized for direct acquisition channel; with Finance to manage Direct business results; with global marketing contacts who will execute some of the campaigns locally; with Privacy and LCA; with Advertising and Search Agencies.

Develop subject matter expertise in acquisition and become an expert at analyzing and interpreting campaign and business results for Business customers.

The successful candidate should have:
Strong direct marketing, digital media, acquisition, relationship marketing experience. Experience in a subscription business/industry (eg financial services, telecom, entertainment, software as a service, etc) is preferred.
Experience managing business metrics where his/her actions have direct impact on the metrics.
Hands-on experience in marketing through multiple channels: programmatic media, search engine marketing, digital/mobile advertising, and a solid understanding of analytics, including media metrics, segmentation, and attribution modeling.
Customer focus and experience marketing to small business or enterprise customers.
Experience managing creative and media agencies to deliver high performance.
Strong strategic thinking complemented with a bias for action. A successful candidate needs to be able to develop a strategy and execution plan that drives results.
Innovative, creative thinking in order to identify new channels and program ideas. Learn from internal and external best practices. Must be proactive in identifying new ideas and bringing them to execution.
Strong analytical thinking, ability to create test and learn plans, measure incremental results, identify opportunities.
Ability to collaborate and influence groups across organization from Senior Leaders, Marketing, Product Intelligence, SMB, Engineering, Customer Service and Operations.
Global experience important as execution will be managed centrally.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and create action plans in solving unstructured problems.
Project management skills to prioritize and drive initiatives forward.
Excellent verbal, written and presentational skills with a focus on tangible, measurable recommendations.
Highly accountable, driven success in a fast-paced environment, experience working in global roles.
