Sr. Electrical Engineer for hardware system design:

Requirements:
Develop, design, and implement electrical solutions for consumer electronic products including but not limited to schematic capture, part selection, PCB layout, power & signal integrity, timing margins, , analysis & validation of prototype systems, and manufacturing that meet the goals of the product while managing constraints in space, time, cost, performance.
Own sub-system specification, design, verification, improvement, error fix tracking, and necessary supporting documentations. Strong skill on root cause analysis, providing solutions for detects, and design improvements.
Develop project documentation including specifications, block diagrams, schematics, PCB layouts, schedules and presentations to fully capture and communicate the electrical design to achieve the projects goals.
Direct and coordinate electrical engineering services as required.
Collaborate with design, software & firmware, mechanical engineering, and compliance and many other engineering and design disciplines to optimize the overall system of the product.
Support various competitive analysis tasks according to subject experts' direction.
Maintain test system & setup updated to the latest industrial standard, test automation to improve test result consistency & efficiency.

Qualification:
BSEE required, MS or PhD preferred
8+ years of relevant experience.
Excellent project management, communication and teamwork skills.
Strong design skills, managing through ambiguity, and technical problem solving skills.
Demonstrated success in designing various high-volume consumer & portable electronics, ownership of multiple sub-systems and/or a complete simple product, experience in end to end development & shipping of at least one mass volume consumer electronics product with massive volume.
Mobile device HW experience is preferred
Hands on for HW bring up & issue debug, system level troubleshooting, and proto mockup
Proficient on schematic capture and layout tools.
Proficient on high speed scope, spectrum analyzer, call box, mobile power supplier, etc.
General knowledge of SW test image downloading & system bring up
General knowledge of different debugging tools for different HW platforms
Lab view programming for test automation is plus

Are you looking to join a dynamic team delivering video and imaging solutions? Microsoft's Surface A/V sub-system team is looking for a video system engineer with excellent leadership skills to deliver video and imaging solutions. As video systems engineer you will own delivery of imaging systems at a product level and contribute to our technology roadmap for the future. You will work closely with internal and external imaging partners to deliver HW and SW components and technologies to enhance the imaging experience for Surface products.
The video system engineer is a member of the video subsystem team consisting of video system engineers, camera module engineers, electrical design engineers and color scientists delivering image capture, processing and pipeline tuning. You will work on a broader multi-function product development team and work cross group with internal imaging platform teams, camera and communication (Lync/Skype) applications teams and SOC ISP teams to deliver imaging experiences that meet business requirements in terms of performance and cost for Surface products. The ideal video systems engineering candidate is an electrical engineer with formal training in image processing and with knowledge of CMOS image sensors, lenses and the imaging software stack.
Responsibilities include:
Product delivery
Own delivery of imaging solutions as a product's video system engineer.
o Responsibilities include sensor recommendations; working with internal application partners to understand imaging application requirements; work with SoC partners to understand ISP capability of selected SoC platforms; identify, recommend and deliver new imaging features based on the abilities of the HW/SW ISP and SW stack; provide Surface requirements to internal Microsoft API teams and work with our SoC partners to deliver a video system driver interfacing the HW ISP and system APIs.
Technology roadmap
o Contribute to the imaging team's development of a multi-year imaging roadmap for sensors and customer experience that spans the business roadmap.

Required skills:
Expert knowledge of image signal processing pipelines from either application or design experience.
Working knowledge of CMOS image sensors and lenses
Experience delivering high performance imaging systems in a high volume consumer product.

Qualifications:
Seven years of imaging product development experience
BSEE with MSEE or PhD preferred
Demonstrated ability as a team player working in a cross functional product development environment with the ability to influence across a product team and beyond

The Surface video team is currently seeking an imaging engineer/color scientist with a passion for delivering high quality consumer imaging products. As an engineer on our team you will own the complex space of image pipeline tuning of Surface products. Candidates must demonstrate the expert knowledge of color science and image processing methods. This includes the knowledge of CMOS image capture systems (sensors and lenses), components of modern ISPs and preferences of the human visual system. Applicants will collaborate with sensor engineers, video system electrical engineers, external SoC imaging teams, sensor suppliers and camera module integrators to deliver high performance CMOS imaging systems.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will evaluate sensors leading to recommendations for product use; have expert knowledge of SoC image processing blocks with the ability to quickly adapt to new architecturs; develop imaging evaluation tools and algorithms and tune product image pipelines for optimum performance across the expected user scenarios.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated expert knowledge of color science and imaging concepts.
Experience delivering tuned color pipelines in multiple commercial products.
Excellent interpersonal skills - cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Demonstrated ability to perform in a high paced product development environment and the ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity.
7+ years' experience working in the imaging field delivering high quality imaging products.
Knowledge of Matlab or equivalent tools for developing imaging algorithms and evaluation tools.
Willing to travel internationally up to 20%.

Role & Opportunity:
We are looking for a Sr. Engineer to focus on motherboard and associated electrical system design for next generation Surface products. A strong mix of technical breadth and depth will allow you to work cross-functionally with different disciplines (Industrial Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, Software and Firmware) to develop compelling innovative products. You will design and develop circuits, select key strategic components and that encompasses the entire product.

Key responsibilities:
Develops Schematics and BOM to meet the design requirements.
Analyzes the design with simulation tools and calculations to verify its conformance to the design requirements.
Collaborate with mechanical engineering, firmware, hardware verification, and many other engineering and design disciplines to optimize the overall system of the product from concept to completion in the factory
Works with suppliers, contractors, and engineering services to ensure that the product is developed on time with high quality
Design, build and test rapid prototypes for evaluation of new product ideas or technology concepts.
Conducts design/debug investigations and support development, maintenance, failure analysis, and resolution activities.
Develop project documentation including specifications, schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, schedules and presentations to meet requirements and communicate the electrical design and its progress

Requirements:
Minimum BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping high volume consumer electronics products of medium to hiplexity.
Hands-on design experience preferred in analog/ digital electronics ranging from: RF, analog, digital, audio, video, power, electromechanical, low power, charging, touch display, and sensors.
Experience preferred with x86 PC architectures and implementation of high speed serial busses (SATA, PCIe, USB) and/or high speed parallel busses such as: memory bus (DDR2/3, etc.)
Proficient in high speed digital design, signal integrity, layout, RF/EMI mitigation techniques, and power distribution techniques of modern processors
Strong problem solving and debugging skills with a solid understanding of core engineering principles, fundamental circuit design, and analytical techniques is required.
Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms.
Design for manufacturing and test experience in a high volume manufacturing environment preferred.
Domestic and international travel may be required.
