Director, Channel Sales - Samsung - L65


- In a mobile-first, cloud-first world devices are the gateway to the cloud. Samsung is the world's leading mobile device manufacturer, however the vast majority of Samsung's success is occurring on non- Microsoft platforms and services.

- This individual will drive business development and device sales across all aspects of our growing devices business with Samsung.

This is a high profile role that will require collaboration across multiple Microsoft stakeholder groups, and will be the most senior Redmond-based role on the partner account team.

- This position reports to the General Manager, Partner Sales, which is based in Seoul.

- An unrelenting passion for passion for technology and a creative, adaptive mind, along with proven success selling and/or marketing technology products in both developed and emerging markets are a must to excel in this position.

- The role has a global focus and will contribute in a major way to the global success of the Samsung partner account team and OEM Division.


- In partnership with Samsung, develop and execute a strategy to increase the volume and share of Microsoft solutions on Samsung devices

- Collaborate with OEM Engineering Design-in counterpart to ensure competitive device portfolio that sells at volume

- Lead field sales processes, including sales forecasting and budgeting

- Develop strong working relationship with key MS stakeholders in order to influence new joint solutions to bring to market

- Advocate for Samsung internally to drive optimal representation in Microsoft's programs and events

- Orchestrate an effective rhythm of the business (ROB) with partner and internal Microsoft teams that perpetuates open communication and avoids surprises.

- At the same time, determine market or partner trends that call for amplification or countermeasures, as appropriate.

- Assist in representing Microsoft as a strategic leader and partner into Samsung, both in HQ and Regional Headquarters

- Articulate and land Microsoft's short and long term strategies, approach, and programs

- Experience, Skill and Behavior Requirements:


- Candidates should possess 10+ years of senior sales experience, have an outstanding track record of results, and can demonstrative critical and creative thinking and strong working knowledge of Microsoft's cloud strategy

- MBA strongly preferred

- Strong executive leadership presence as well as presentation and public speaking experience is a must, as well as experience and comfort in negotiations at senior executive level

- Excellent verbal and written communication ability with requisite interpersonal skills to partner, collaborate and build relationships with our customer, and with Microsoft subsidiary and regional teams

- Strategically focused - anticipates and develops business opportunities and priorities for future action - while being able to focus on achieving concrete business results through tenacious execution during the fiscal year

- Analytical skills that allow to extract core data from an abundance of sources, drawing conclusions and translating those into action

- Understands how to get things done, demonstrates organizational agility to overcome obstacles, and achieve objectives within and across groups

- Creatively develops original ideas, approaches and solutions to typical, unusual or difficult situations or problems

- Customer focused, very responsive, and action oriented to meet partner needs while maintaining a positive, professional image of Microsoft

- Consistently views challenges as upside opportunity

- Passion for technology and Microsoft products, primarily in consumer and small business segments

- Excellent oral and written English language skills is required; read/write fluency in Korean language is a distinct plus but not a prerequisite
