Through it we generate significant revenue and profit for the company and it is those deep and valuable relationships with retailers and distributors that have made our retail success possible. The impact of the Category Manager is significant as it directly impacts Microsoft's worldwide share of devices across consumer channels and our ability to monetize devices at point of sale and post sales through our apps and services offerings.

The Category Manager - Channel Strategy creates a marketing strategy that optimizes the partner capacity plan across channels to drive share, revenue, category profit and customer preference for Microsoft products. The Category Manager has deep expertise of key channel insights and market knowledge related to Windows devices across PC - Tablet - Phone, and employs methodologies including sales lift analysis, partner prioritizations, promotions, return-on-investment analysis and identification of key partnerships. The Category Manager is responsible for delivering applicable strategies and guidance for marketing programs, promotions and campaigns to support the WW field community in landing their all up revenue/share/units.

As a category expert, you will manage Microsoft's worldwide (WW) channel and ecosystem strategy and ensure execution aligned to global programs as it relates to selling Windows PCs, tablets and phones in managed retail channels, and will manage how this strategy aligns with Microsoft's Windows Category Management strategy all up. The role will drive cross-group alignment with key stakeholders in the Windows marketing team, finance, retail channel marketing and OEM, You will also work very closely with the senior leadership team to develop annual investment plans and program frameworks for execution.

The Category Manager - Channel Strategy also leads the channel partnership with Silicon manufacturers, such as Intel, Qualcomm, NVidia and AMD with the primary objective of leveraging joint channel investments to maximize campaign impact and accelerate device sell through. Key areas of partnership alignment include: product assortment, investment alignment, visual merchandising + co-marketing alignment, product demonstration and channel training

Key Responsibilities:

Analysis & Insight
o Assess channel trends and class of trade evolution
o Incorporation of new concepts into marketing strategy
o Identify partner opportunities for each channel selling to consumers

Strategic Business Planning
o Create strategic business objectives
o Coordinate WW partner segmentation & prioritization
o Develop investment programs to support optimal assortment & merchandising
o Build and communicate guidance documentation for our field teams on investment programs, ensuring compliance in execution
o Build custom investment models that address specific market needs (breadth volume, partner-specific exception handling)

Ideal Skills and Experience:
o 10+ years of experience in business development, category management and/or product planning
o Core marketing experience
o Experience in building cross-company initiatives
o Consumer marketing or sales background or proven knowledge of consumer selling channels
o Being a conduit between technology and the business with the voice of customer in mind
o Financial and analytical experience
o Management experience
o MBA Preferred

Minimum Qualifications:
o Minimum 8 years of experience in business development, category management and/or product planning
o Core marketing experience
o Consumer marketing, retail or sales experience
