The Surface Category Manager's key responsibilities include leading Surface's Go-to-Market plans in the CCG Corporate Category Team for the Operator Channel and supporting the Surface Marketing team to drive existing and new business opportunities.
The role requires close collaboration with Redmond based teams to identify and size business opportunities, analyze channel models, provide inputs and deliver on high level execution plans. In addition, the role also involves deep engagement with MMDS Sales Teams, Field Category Managers in CCG and RSM, as well as Timezone Leads, Regional Operating Centers, Regional LCA, all to deliver market and business objectives (volume, reach, share) for Surface.

Key Deliverables

Drive Budgeted Revenue, Growth, Share and GM
Drive consumer retail strategy and land execution through field enablement
Develop strategic dialogue and relationships with key stake-holders and customers
Cross Group collaboration - corporate and field based Category & Channel, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Marketing.

Key responsibilities

Market Landscaping and Insights - Provide deep understanding and competitive insights of specific regions, business verticals and customer segments
Channel Strategy -. Develop and manage Channel programs (including enablers such as rebates)
Customer Engagement - Manage and drive key channel customer interactions in support of the field teams
Operations understanding - Forecast validation and collaboration across region and subsidiaries. Track to sales, initiate gaps and drive corrective actions. Inventory review - flag excess and shortages, S&OP, MBRs, and Monthly Reviews. Lead strategic market and partner focused projects.
Drive Growth opportunities - develop new markets, new channels.

We are looking for an individual who has, an affinity for learning new things, sharp analytical skills as well as demonstrable business acumen and maturity in discussing, proven ability for strong communication and collaboration, executional excellence, and solving and presenting business issues.

Analytical Skills:
o Solid business/financial modeling skills. Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills. Ability to think critically and independently.

Business Intelligence Skills:
o Ability to quickly learn different subject matter relating to various channel models and the way they function. Ability to quickly integrate and assimilate with new teams on numerous and varied projects.
o Monitor market conditions, industry trends, product innovation and trends, competitors' products/threats, and pricing and sales strategies to maximize competitive stance.
o Effective at cross group collaboration developing proposals leading to commercial alliances, investments, business models and go to market approaches.

Organizational Skills:
o Contribute to development of internal and external relationships for Surface across various groups.
o Ability to work cross functionally, in a lead capacity as well as a support marketing and field sales organizations to deliver on goals.
o Organizational agility/savvy and ability to work successfully across a highly complex and matrixed environment.

Candidate Profile

The role demands a self-starter who excels at connecting internally to key stakeholders and influencers, managing multiple projects at once, and leading cross-team collaboration (Legal, Field, Marketing, Finance). Additionally, the candidate should expect articulate Surface channel strategy to subsidiaries and partners, and serve as a key contact for all partner and channel-related matters.

Candidates should have at least 10+ years of operator channel, retail, category, product marketing and/or partner management. A successful track record and experience in the PC, Phone or PC Peripheral business for a region or for a channel segment is preferred. Candidates must be willing to have 20-30% travel. BS/BA required, MS / MBA preferred.
