The Microsoft Xbox Team is responsible for a wide array of products including Xbox 360 and Xbox One game consoles, Kinect, high-performance game controllers, and gaming headsets. We are looking for a Senior Audio Digital Signal Processing Engineer with expertise in signal processing (DSP) and audio system design to enable world-class consumer electronic products.

As a successful candidate, you enjoy working with cross functional engineering teams and driving system-level and sub-system designs through fast-paced product development cycles. The role allows you to develop and deliver results to demanding audio signal processing problems using modern techniques and methods. You enjoy pairing DSP algorithms with audio hardware and acoustic design, mechanical assemblies, and electronics to bring to life compelling and innovative user experiences. Your work experience includes a minimum of five years in signal processing and audio product design with embedded DSP. You are expert in DSP audio algorithms such as: AGC; AEC; Noise reduction/suppression; EQ; IIR/FIR filters; beamforming and Multi-Band Compression. Additionally, you are knowledgeable in the area of audio software codecs including: AAC, mp3, OPUS and hardware codecs from various suppliers.

Typical responsibilities include the specification, design, integration and tuning of embedded audio DSP algorithms including the selection of hardware codecs. Experience in choosing material and components to achieve cost targets is desired. The establishment of specifications and written test plans, including the development of test procedures to verify your designs are integral to the position. An ability to manage complex projects against development timeline needs, is required, and your excellent communication skills allow you to work seamlessly with teams across various engineering functions and geographies. As such, you are willing to travel internationally at times to support design and manufacturing activities.

Qualification Summary:
o BS/MS in electrical engineering, acoustics, audio engineering or physics, with specialty in digital signal processing and audio system design.
o 5+ years of experience in audio product development, including project lead experience on at least one product that successfully reached volume production.
o C/C++ design and coding skills
o Experience with Audio DSP development on embedded systems and development tools (IDE's, emulators, EVM's, etc.)
o Experience developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environment.
o Familiarity with Psychoacoustics and Subjective Audio Testing and PESQ / POLQA / PEAQ is desired
o Familiarity with audio/acoustic test systems such as ACQUA, AP
o Familiarity with Audio Standards (ITU, ETSI, ANSI, IEEE, etc.)
o RTOS experience for development on Infotainment, Audio or Multimedia products is a plus
o Demonstrated ability to drive complex audio system trade-offs by partnering across engineering teams.
