Program Manager, Global Communications
Communications success at Microsoft relies on effective coordination and execution of communications strategies and plans around the world. This effort is centered with the Global Communications team.

The Global Comms team supports Microsoft's business and image goals through a unified global communications program that strengthens the role of communications and multiplies our storytelling impact.

Our team helps the Field communications team to scale the Microsoft story globally through strategic, hi-impact engagement with worldwide media and industry influencers.

We are looking for a talented individual with a passion to drive cultural changes; ability to manage, lead & execute cross-organization programs globally; and develop and execute accountability mechanisms. The individual should excel at communications, planning, analytical insight, organizing and execution skills.

The ability to effectively collaborate with multiple teams, earn trust and drive change while being diplomatic are paramount to the success of the individual in this role.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Microsoft's Field communications team, and SMSG and Corporate Communications team's rhythm of the business and quarterly business update processes.

Scope of Work:

- Anticipate, manage, and mitigate communications issues; provide core operational services that support subsidiaries and areas in driving their news agenda; drive accountability through effective measurement and management processes globally; contribute to the ongoing transformation of the communications discipline at Microsoft.

- Drive/develop the team's annual planning process - target setting, playbook development, etc.

- Provide tools, assets and intel that improves the overall quality of comms in the Field. Ensure our processes and tools keep pace with our ever changing business needs with a focus on reliability, efficiency and predictability.

- Implement the new measurement system and manage global metrics program that feeds into the ROB and QBU processes.

- Partner with the Corporate Communications Business Management team to manage Field-specific content on the CommsCentral SharePoint site to provide a resource-rich destination that enables the Field to fully execute on campaigns.

- Assess the current PR Advisory system and processes to develop/upgrade system to meet the evolving needs of the Communications teams. Review and post PR Advisories.

- Manage onboarding of new Field communicators on the tools, resources and ROB processes.

- Collaborate with stakeholders across SMSG, One Marketing Group, LCA, etc. Identify buy-in, sponsorship needed to implement any changes.
Participate in ROB meetings to ensure timely follow up on action items.

- Four to seven plus years of proven, complex project/program management experience including scheduling, issue identification/resolution, risk mitigation, dependency management.
- BS/BA degree.
- Natural collaborators; have a solid understanding of business and technology.
- Able to understand the Communications and key partner team's complex and geographic needs; and have excellent written and oral communication skills to synthesize multifaceted issues into easy-to-understand concepts.
- Comfortable working with diverse groups across multiple time zones.
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and ability to accommodate working styles and perspectives of diverse individuals. Able to be trusted with the knowledge and handling of confidential information.
- Work independently to achieve results with a high degree of accuracy.
- Build effective working relationships inside and outside of the group and across the globe that involve contact at all levels of management.
- Have a passion in simplifying processes while delivering more for less. Drive continual process and system improvements to support the success of the global communications team.
- Strong problem solving skills/judgment, able to make confident, informed decisions and recommendations; able to anticipate difficult situations and to proactively plan appropriate actions. Able to move forward in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge, be detail oriented and data focused.

- Experience in adjusting priorities, decisions, and actions to respond to multiple demands, unanticipated events and new information.
- Work effectively under stress and display grace under pressure.
- Extensive knowledge of and proficiency with MS products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and SharePoint.
