The successful Marketing Manager is a highly-motivated self starter who is able to understand the PC market, competitive, and retail landscape, and think strategically about the right retail launch approaches. You will work alongside a team of senior marketing professionals. You must partner effectively within the product group and Microsoft Stores to develop key processes and rhythms that facilitate consistent, clear, efficient management of the retail strategy.

The Marketing Manager will work on several projects at the same time, provide management with insight to business, competitive and launch critical issues, participate in overall strategy decisions, and help facilitate the coordination and orchestration process across various workstreams.

This position requires extensive cross-group coordination, exceptional project management skills, strong communication
skills (verbal and written), and the ability to build compelling presentations and comprehensive business review materials. The Marketing Manager must have demonstrated success in leading complex projects and proven organizational agility abilities. To manage the variety of responsibilities and deliverables required of this position, the Marketing Manager must be highly organized and have strong problem solving skills, the ability to deal with ambiguity and a strong attention to detail.

Core Responsibilities:
Marketing:
- Manage the retail strategy including definition of key milestones, and key outcomes
- Manage specific workstreams within the launch as required
- Establish rhythm of communication regarding workstream status and issues
- Deliver a clear and consistent communications rhythm across product group, Microsoft Stores, etc.
Business Management:
- Facilitate the development of the vision and strategy of retail strategy
- Produce and deliver presentations to all levels of management
- Drive budget requests, approval, and management

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have a strong track record of marketing planning and execution experience, business
management experience, excellent analytical & problem solving skills, strong process and coordination skills, demonstrate initiative and a willingness to roll-up their sleeves to make things happen. Organizational agility and cross-group collaboration skills will be critical to success.
5-7 years of marketing and business planning experience is required.

Other qualifications for the ideal candidate include:
- Retail go to market strategy experience
- Strong knowledge of the PC market
- Experience managing a V-team
- Experience in core business segments

Surface Business Planning Team in Surface Marketing Group is responsible for maximizing the gross margin (GM) for Surface in both consumer and commercial channels. The key role for the team is to manage the full product lifecycle through the following three key activities:

1. Increase predictability for the business by planning the pricing, incentives, and promotions across phases of the product lifecycle

2. Establish principled plans for market- and channel-expansion, including determining sensitivities for future planning

3. Analyze competitor businesses to identify key opportunities and threats that impact our roadmap and share forecasts

We are looking for a strong business planner focusing on building SKU and Pricing Strategies and enhancing Forecasting Accuracy for Day 1 and lifetime volumes, which are the core to increase the market share as well as gain GM. S/he should have strong strategic thinking, leadership and analytical skills coupled with tenacity for taking initiatives and delivering results. S/he should also have a proven track record managing complex programs and projects. S/he must be able to work independently, be action and detail-oriented yet able to step back to see the bigger picture.

Requires 5+ years' product marketing and/or financial analysis work experience, preferably in the device company or the consulting firm.

You'll collaborate closely with the owners of outbound marketing channels (PR, advertising, online, analysts & the field) to build GTMs (go to markets) and campaigns that are focused on the things most important to customers. And you'll influence product design and development for future releases of our products working closely with product planning and development.

Specific responsibilities include:

1. Developing a compelling WW product roadmap, SKU, and pricing strategy
2. Creating the customer value prop and product positioning
3. Building go-to-market strategies, and executing in the market against those strategies
4. Driving competitive knowledge, strategy and field readiness
5. Running primary and secondary market research activities to inform marketing strategies
6. Becoming an expert in competitors' products, services and business models
7. Tracking key competitors' financial & business developments
8. Creating a compelling set of messages, evidence, and proof points that promote Microsoft's comparative value

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, strong strategic and critical thinking, and ability to deal with ambiguity; proven verbal and written communication skills and strong customer and partner focus. The candidate must possess exceptional relationship skills and be able to interact effectively with senior executives both within Microsoft and with our partners; and must demonstrate passion for, and ability to be successful with complex cross-group projects. 2+ years of product management, marketing, or related business experience. MBA is a plus, while not required.
