The Developer Tools Marketing & Sales group is responsible for creating the business strategies, product plans, and go-to-market plans to increase adoption and sales of Microsoft's Development Tools and Cloud Services across the global developer audience. The Product Marketing team within the Developer Tools Marketing & Sales group is responsible for building the core product positioning and messaging, creating the content for the marketing and sales teams in the field, defining the communications with the developer community and representing both internally and externally the Visual Studio & Microsoft Azure product families.

As a Product Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for creating and executing end-to-end strategies to increase adoption and usage of our premier cloud-based services for developers. You will partner with product engineering, go-to-market teams and business strategy teams in the Developer Division and Microsoft Azure. You will lead a virtual team to build a deeper relationship with Visual Studio Online customers, and nurture them at every point through their adoption journey. You will obsess over every detail to ensure that our customers have an incredible experience.

The Product Marketing Manager will be accountable for the full marketing strategy development including:
o Designing creative, data-driven marketing experiments to test channels, processes and messages to identify the most effective way to drive deeper developer engagement across tools & services.
o Driving direct customer communications that facilitate learning, adoption and satisfaction
o Driving the creation of our go-to-market content, including product positioning, product roadmaps, competitive assessments and sales enablement content such as whitepapers and demos.
o Working alongside the go-to-market team to scale our content through our customer, field and partner channels to accelerate sales and adoption of our technology.
o Regular communication with our customers, partners and analysts to understand the needs of software teams. Own the synthesis of these needs into the related market opportunity assessments and market requirements documents.
o Working alongside the business planning team to define our offering including SKU structure, promotions, pricing and licensing and the associated long range revenue plan.
o Working hand-in-hand with our sales team to ensure our dedicated sales force understands our strategy, value proposition and competitive position to successfully grow our business.
o Representing the strategies and business impact of the virtual team's work in front of Senior Executives in the Cloud + Enterprise division.

You will:
o Have a deep understanding of the overall developer story for our primary platform technologies with a special emphasis on cloud-based developer services in Visual Studio Online and Azure.
o Craft thoughtful, compelling and highly differentiated value propositions and supporting messaging
o Be able to work closely with a very senior product development team, act as their partner and be able to convince them to change their plans radically with a collection of influence strategies.
o Be able to stand up in front of customers, press and analysts and take them through an overview of the product, how is unique in the market, how it is supported, and where we plan on taking it in the future.
o Be smart, be agile, fail fast, and drive iterative improvement every single day.

Role Readiness Prerequisites
o 5+ years' of technical product management experience is required
o Deep technical understanding of our developer tools and platforms, especially cloud development & testing tools
o Excellent communication skills with experience in leading technical and non-technical discussions with engineers, internally at Microsoft and externally at public forums and conferences.
o A profound sense of ownership and accountability is absolutely required alongside the ability to influence, inspire large and sometimes skeptical audiences
o A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business Management, Computer Science, or some related discipline is preferred

We are building a fun, fast paced, innovative team to help developers accelerate their transition through the cloud through Visual Studio Online (VSO) and Microsoft Azure. As a Product Marketing Manager on the VSO team, you will be responsible for creating and executing end-to-end outbound marketing strategies to increase adoption and usage of our premier cloud-based services for developers. You will partner with engineering & product marketing to reach the right customers, where they are online and around the world to maximize service adoption & usage.

The Product Marketing Manager will be accountable for the full go-to-market (GTM) strategy development including:
o Designing creative, data-driven marketing experiments to test channels, methods, and messages to identify the most effective way to drive high quality leads into the funnel.
o Partner with product marketing, product engineering and digital agencies to deliver go-to-market content, including product positioning, product roadmaps, competitive assessments and sales enablement content such as whitepapers and demos.
o Scale our content through our customer, field and partner channels to accelerate sales and adoption of our technology.
o Working hand-in-hand with our sales team to ensure our field marketing & sales leaders understand our strategy, value proposition and competitive position to successfully grow the business.
o Representing the strategies and business impact of the virtual team's work in front of Senior Executives in the Cloud + Enterprise division.

You will:
o Have a deep understanding of the overall developer story for our primary platform technologies with a special emphasis on cloud-based developer services in Visual Studio Online and Azure.
