The Collaboration and Meetings Devices is targeting this multi-billion dollar opportunity. We are building a new business at Microsoft, and we will be competing with some of the biggest names in the industry. It will take a combined effort from across our company, working together, to deliver excellence. That's where you come in.

The Principal Program Manager is a strategic product leadership PM role. From painting the big picture opportunity and business case to stitching together the thousands of pieces that need to come together to deliver magic to our customers, you are able to clearly craft a product vision from customer needs, business opportunity, and technical possibility and create the requirements, specifications, and plan that will guide product development from concept to delivery. This role is extremely high visibility and a rare chance to drive end-to-end product experiences across HW and SW in a high growth/high value market.

Candidates must be able to lead a virtual team across org boundaries to deliver on this charter. You need to be willing to face the challenges and obstacles that come with starting a new business and have the organizational agility within Microsoft and breadth of experience to build and sustain an integrated product development effort. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, business acumen & technical depth, customer empathy, and a strong background in integrated product development.

Key areas of responsibility:

o Product Definition/Delivery owner. Key deliverables: product requirement document (PRD), product development RoB management including spec alignment, development tracking, overall product management including subsystem alignment, alignment between devices and SW teams to facilitate cross-product feature and cost-benefit alignment.
o Partner Engagement/Management: internal and external Partner engagement and ongoing project management; Make vs. Buy evaluation and management of external development engagements; Partner (integrator, installer, interop) technical product interface
o Business Management: Overall product schedule management; executive MMR (gate review) leadership; product development budget and opex tracking; hiring/team management

Required qualifications
o BS or MS in engineering, product development, or equivalent experience
o MBA or equivalent business experience
o 10+ years creating and delivering products, particularly with HW/SW capabilities
o 5+ years as a people manager

Experience with Microsoft's E2E Device Development methodology as well exposure to external development engagement approaches are highly desired. Depth in audio/video, collaboration, NUI, and enterprise products will be highly valued.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, a passion for excellent products, both a sense of purpose and a sense of humor, and the ability to work under tight schedules are all required.

The Systems PM will champion the customer experience and work across planning, design, marketing, hardware, and software teams to ensure that CMD product make working together as natural as being together.

You will be responsible for the definition of the product requirements (PRD) and working with the hardware teams and with partner SW groups across Microsoft to deliver the needed hardware product, operating system, applications, and services to bring the integrated product vision to life.

This will start with integrated requirements that capture the experience objectives of the products and map them to the deliverables from each team, come to life with a living view of product evolution and status against business goals, and culminate with a product launch that delivers a simple, powerful product that delights our customers.

Candidates must be able to work across the company to motivate a virtual team to deliver on this vision.

You need to be willing to face the challenges and obstacles that come with starting a new business and have the organizational agility within Microsoft to build the support for the new products we are creating.

We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, technical depth, customer empathy, and a strong background in integrated product development and business planning.

Required qualifications:

- BS or MS in computer science or engineering
- MBA or equivalent business experience
- 7+ years creating and delivering products, particularly with HW/SW capabilities
- Experience delivering a MS product end-to-end, particularly with HW and SW capabilities
- A passion for shipping products
