must demonstrate the ability to design optical lens systems consisting of multi-element, high volume plastic and plastic plus glass lenses that maximize the optical system's performance while meeting ID and mechanical requirements of Surface
products. This includes the optical design, development, documentation, and verification of high-volume, low-cost optics and related parts such as apertures and alignment pieces. Applicants

in creating high performance camera systems.
The candidate will create lens designs meeting the performance and ID requirements of the overall system, optimizing lens trade-offs and performance for best customer experience; work with the procurement team to evaluate and select lens molding partners and then optimize lens designs based on tooling and process capability of the selected partners. Understanding
of industry leading injection molding tolerances and capabilities contributing to lens yield and performance requirements is important.
experience designing high volume injection molded lenses as part of a team delivering consumer products for CMOS
or similar imaging sensors.
working with Asian
lens molders and camera module suppliers.

10+ years' experience designing lenses and demonstrated knowledge in the use of lens design and tolerance analysis using tools such as Zemax

: 5+ years' experience designing with mechanical CAD
development tools (i.e. ProE
: 2+ years Matlab
knowledge and experience with imaging science
to develop test tools to characterize optical and system level performance.

A MS or PhD
in Optical Sciences
