We are seeking a qualified candidate for a Principal Engineer to drive the power delivery solutions for the Xbox console hardware development team. The successful candidate will be the primary technical focal point for the voltage regulator solutions on past, present and future Xbox console design projects. A deep understanding of voltage regulators is expected including single and multi-phase regulators, linear regulators, schematic capture and PCB layout experience, power impedance and thermal limitations of the design. Additionally, this candidate will be required to have an understanding of control loop theory and stability, component and PCB parasitic, and transient response characteristics.
The candidate will define the voltage regulator architecture, lead a team to prototype the solutions, characterize the results, and validate that the regulator meets the load requirements across realistic workload and environmental conditions within stringent cost targets. The candidate will be required to balance performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability for the best possible solution. Last, the candidate will ensure a successful transition of the entire VR solution into a high volume manufacturing environment including test techniques, yield analysis, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities:
o Drive internal / external VR design activities by leading the console VR team with our silicon partners / vendors as well as provide technical leadership regarding:
o Initial architectural analysis of VR solutions for cutting edge silicon
o Scoping the solution and leading a team to meet all deliverables on time and at cost.
o Identify internal schedule and milestones based on agreed upon vendor schedule.
o Technical lead from the console team to ensure the solution meets the load requirements with the proper margin, budgets and specifications at a high level of quality.
o Drive VR technical requirements with all associated partners.
o Technical review and console team signoff of technical collateral from the vendor.
o VR Technology assessment with respect to new technology such as digital VR solutions, telemetry, and system control and interaction over I2C or PMBUS.
o Technical point for the console team to ensure HW / SW resources are aligned with regards to power delivery

Qualifications:
o Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering.
o A solid understanding of core engineering principles
o Solid understanding of current Voltage Regulator Technology and power performance optimization
o Familiar with static and transient power loads from complex SOC's power states and current cutting edge power reduction techniques such as clock gating, power gating, and workload throttling.
o 15+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping products of medium to hiplexity
o Experience with power savings and low power techniques
o Knowledge of high volume consumer electronics design and manufacturing is desired.
o Strong bench evaluation, power delivery measurement techniques and in-lab debugging skills are required.
o Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms.
o Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven.
o Domestic and international travel will be required.
