We are looking for a highly motivated Principal
or Senior Acoustic
/ Mechanical Engineer
with 10+ years' experience in acoustic design to lead acoustic design and development of audio products through fast-paced development cycles.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for using simulation coupled with experiments to drive mechanical design of audio products. A strong mix of technical breadth and depth is desired to tie electronics, acoustics, software and mechanical assemblies into compelling consumer experiences. A track record of innovation and experience in acoustic design of high volume audio products is essential.
Primary Job Functions/Activities
responsibility is to lead cross-functional teams in all acoustic aspects of headsets and other audio products including: product definition, defining product specifications, formulating product acoustic architecture, and optimizing the product for audio quality.
the system level and part level mechanical design to meet acoustic and audio requirements by translating audio requirements to mechanical specifications
with sub-system partners for design of and integration of technology components
the acoustic design within constraints of the system to deliver the class leading audio experience
simulations to assess system level acoustic, noise and vibration behavior to identify critical parameters and optimize acoustic design within constraints
-B.S. Mechanical Engineering
, or related field; M.S. or PhD
-10+ years of experience in design of consumer audio products such as headsets
ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations.
lead experience (using internal or external contract design resources) on at least two consumer electronics products that successfully reached volume production.
knowledge of acoustics, and designing for audio quality
in translating audio driven requirements into physical specifications for ME
and a theoretical knowledge in some or all of the following would be beneficial; statistical energy analysis, finite element methods, acoustic boundary element methods, testing for noise and audio quality.
in acoustical simulation and modeling using software modeling/simulation tools (Matlab
, etc.) and industry standard test tools
of microphone and speaker technology
at testing, characterizing and profiling audio hardware
in designing for large volume production in a wide range of manufacturing processes
-A working knowledge of statistical data analysis and measurement systems
communication skill is required and international travel to support design and manufacturing activities is required. Proven
ability to deliver projects on-time and adherence to deadlines.
