PREMIER FIELD ENGINEER - Windows Platform Technologies
Location: Tucson, AZ

The US DoD Army Service team has an immediate opening for a Platforms Premier Field Engineer with extensive Platforms/Infrastructure expertise. The Premier Field Engineer acts as the primary onsite technical contact, providing customer visibility, advanced technical troubleshooting support and problem resolution for Product Support Services and corporate customers, including issues escalated to the highest levels of management.

Primary responsibilities for this PFE role include providing on-site technical support solutions for customer service delivery and availability, while ensuring satisfaction with Microsoft software on the client and server. A Platforms PFE will deliver timely and high quality incident resolution focusing on root cause analysis, prevention, and knowledge transfer utilizing knowledge of the customer environment to resolve issues in a timely manner. The person in this position will need to be capable of providing field technical support and proactive service presence for groups in the Microsoft Services organization, including but not limited to Premier and Professional Support, Microsoft Consulting Services, and escalation engineers. You will provide technical support including product technical training onsite, as well as via telephone, and electronic media. This PFE must be able to manage hot issues by setting customer expectations, devising and implementing action plans, being available 24x7 and professionally communicating to all parties involved. In addition, a PFE will develop and implement strategies for providing proactive support resulting in fewer incidents, increased availability, or accelerated deployments and develop relationships with technical directors or lead architects for the supported technologies resulting in more participation in planning and improved satisfaction in support.

Qualifications:
o Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills at the System Engineer level
o Exceptional customer service, overall communication and technical writing skills.
o Technical depth to communicate with development and other internal organizations at a peer level
o Ability to work independently with minimal management supervision and as part of a nationwide team of engineers
o Demonstrated aptitude for providing exceptional customer service in politically charged environments
o Ability to enhance the technical expertise of peers via the development of product training, mentoring of new hires, and team content development
o Ability to apply technology to improve existing products and systems at customers and for internal use
o Ability to actively participate in team support by proposing and implementing solutions
o Assist in developing strategies to gain additional Premier support accounts by contacting and establishing relationships with Premier Support Managers and Technical Account Managers.
o Strong organization, time management, project management and negotiation skills desired.

Technical Requirements:
o Solid understanding of client/server, networking, and Internet technologies fundamentals.
o Superior knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in Windows 2003/2008R2/2012 Server and Microsoft client products, Windows desktop Operating Systems, Windows server Operating Systems, Active Directory design and deployment, DNS, DHCP and other related areas
o Troubleshooting skills at the expert level within large network environments.
o Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP and other protocols including use of troubleshooting tools - scripting, resource kit diagnostic tools and packet sniffers and\or Netmon.
o 5 or more years experience in systems development, network operations, and software support or I.T. consulting.
o 5 or more year's industry experience with Microsoft products
o Effective learning skills
o Work well in a team environment
o Strong problem-solving skills
o Secondary expertise in more than one of the following products: Identity Management, Security, Network Load Balancing, MS Cluster Server/Multi-vendor Cluster and SAN implementations, SQL, IIS, ISA.
o Current passport or be able to obtain passport within 90 days of hire.

The candidate must be US citizen, have or able to obtain a security clearance, able to pass an agency background check, and be able to start within 30 days of offer acceptance. This position may include up to 50% travel to include overnight stays.

Technical Requirements: A superior knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in SQL Server 2008/2005/2000 with solid understanding of standard computer and networking concepts, and Internet fundamentals, is required. Strong technical depth knowledge in Windows Server technologies is required. Debugging skills in the Windows Platform and SQL Programming skills in one or more of the following: SQL, VB, VBA, C++, VJ++, VBS, Jscript, HTML/DHTML. SQL Server Integration Services, Reporting Services, Analysis Services and IIS knowledge is required.

Overnight travel is required. Travel requirements vary regionally and could be as much as 70%. Candidates must possess current passport or be able to obtain passport within 90 days of hire. They must be available for travel dispatch 24x7x365.

Education: College degree, preferably in Computer Science, is required. MCSE strongly preferred, but not required at hire. Related field (or equivalent) experience will be considered.
