The Cloud Server Infrastructure Engineering (CSI-E) team within WSSC (Windows Server and System Center) is responsible for server hardware definition and design, development of Server and Rack Infrastructure for Microsoft's online services. We work closely with Microsoft Product Groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements of our cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership (TCO).

To support this effort we are looking for a Server and Infrastructure Operations Engineer who can support Sustenance of our Networking and Storage Sub-systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:
CSI Sustaining (Operations) Engineering single point of Contact for Networking and Storage Sub-Systems.
Pre Deployment Phase Responsibilities:
o Support Microsoft Product Groups with Engineering Validation of CSI FW and drivers for Networking (NICs from Mellanox, Broadcomm, Intel etc.) and Storage (HBA/RAID from LSI, PMC) sub-systems.
o Work with ODMs, OEMs and vendors to support Networking and Storage sub-system issues that come up during large scale server manufacturing and deployments.
o Develop tools automation (scripting) using C, C++, C#, PowerShell, Python or Perl to validate and resolve Networking and Storage issues. These activities could be in a lab environment, at rack integration facilities or on hardware deployed in data centers.
Post Deployment Sustenance Responsibilities:
o CSI technical single point of contact for vendors (for NICs and HBA/RAIDs) for HW, FW and Driver Development and break/fix
o Single point of technical contact for WCS ODMs and OEMs for NICs and HBA/RAID issues and HW/FW/Driver development
o Support CSI Sustaining Engineers and Microsoft Product Groups to validate and roll out HW, FW and Driver upgrades for NICs, HBA and RAIDs (quarterly as well as hot fixes)
Triage and document bugs (during deployment as well as sustenance phase) related to Networking and Storage Sub-systems through TFS (Team Foundation Server), and then work with CSI engineering teams to root cause and resolve.
Focus on continuous improvement through optimum level of process and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science (Master of Science degree preferred).
5+ years' of hands-on experience (testing, validation, design and development or sustaining) with x64 Industry Standard Server or related products from OEMs or ODM Partners.
Excellent grasp of Server Networking and Storage Sub-systems as deployed in Cloud environments as well associated Industry Standard Performance Benchmarks
Passion for server problem solving in Networking and Storage environment is essential.
Proven track record for managing vendors in Server Networking and Storage sub-system space.
Hands on Programming skills with C, C++ or C# and scripting skills with PowerShell, Python or Perl is essential.
Individual effectiveness skills such as discipline, time management, decision making, planning and organizing work, summarizing results through technical reports (TFS, MS Office) are highly desired.
Self-motivated individual, must be able work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment and across the team of engineers.
