The Microsoft Commercial Communications team is seeking an Education PR lead, responsible for driving a global PR strategy to persuade educators, students and parents to trust Microsoft as their preferred source for vision, insight and products for lifelong learning. The ideal candidate blends strategic thinking with world-class communications and management skills, has a strong background driving successful PR campaigns for global companies, international experience, and broad expertise spanning traditional public relations, social media and integrated marketing campaigns.
Job description includes:
Develop and implement a high-impact global PR strategy for Microsoft's Education business
Deeply engage with media to showcase and demonstrate Microsoft's offerings in Education; create relationships with media and influencers for ongoing information sharing; and cultivate advocacy for Microsoft in this space
Identify influencers, including emerging influencers in social media, for specific target audiences and develop strong plans for connecting with these audiences
Represent Microsoft as a spokesperson
Create materials and other content to aid Microsoft PR colleagues around the world to promote Microsoft offerings and insight in Education
Manage PR agency and vendor resources for maximum effectiveness, leading multiple resources to be integral members of the extended team
Be an integral member of the Commercial Communications team, participating in cross-team PR strategy
Collaborate closely with stakeholders in marketing and partner PR teams across Microsoft
Qualifications:
15+ years' experience in public relations and related fields, including public policy, journalism and nonprofit work; prior Microsoft PR experience preferred
Experience working with marketing teams and partnering closely on integrated campaigns
Passion for, and current understanding of, evolving global media trends
Executive presence and professional maturity
Storytelling capabilities and key message creation skills
Proven ability to lead and mange cross-group teams and virtual teams, including agencies
Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with diverse personalities
International experience preferred
Bachelor's degree required; post-graduate degree preferred
Self-starter and can-do attitude a must
