Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure and Operations is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The team is responsible for designing, building and operating our unified global datacenters; managing the demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and responsible for all of the operations needed to run the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams). We focus on smart growth with an emphasis on automation, data driven engineering, cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability.

We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers. Our portfolio is built and managed by a team of subject matter experts working 24x7x365 to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

Data Center Operations is looking for a team player to work in one of our mission critical Microsoft Data Centers. The ideal candidate will have previous work experience in Data Center Facilities Operation and Infrastructure Management. This candidate will be the leader for a large-scale mission critical facility's mechanical infrastructure systems.
Must have a strong technical knowledge in the operation of raised floor environments, various heating and cooling systems such as centrifugal chillers, chilled water, closed loop systems and thermal storage cooling systems, CRAH and CRAC air handling equipment and knowledge of water treatment practices. Ideal candidate would have deep technical understanding and experience with fuel oil storage, distribution & protection system, generators including the fuel, radiator and ventilation systems. Candidate would also have technical knowledge on building automation systems including monitoring and alarm systems. The individual should also have good working knowledge of electrical design requirements.

In addition, the candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, project management and organizational skills and be familiar with advanced operational processes and procedures in dealing with large data center environments. A working knowledge of Computer-aided design software; proficiency in Microsoft Office software is a plus.

Data Center Technology and Experience

- Significant management experience in a production, mission-critical, revenue-dependent, 24x7 data center environment
- Establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment.
- Maintain all DC related mechanical system design requirements and related documentation.
- Continuously develop, refine, implement, manage and maintain written procedures related to operating, maintaining, and recovering (emergency) the Critical Systems.
- Experience in the design, operation, and commissioning of chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems, and life safety systems.
- Experience and theoretical based understanding of different concepts for cooling of data centers.
- Understanding of under floor static pressure and its value in a data center environment.
- Mastery of the refrigeration cycle and its application in the data center
- Good understanding of adiabatic cooling systems, maintenance, and risks
- Experience with ultrasonic, quartz/UV, and steam canister humidification
- Experience with alternative, energy efficient water treatment methodologies
- Previous experience with high cycle of concentration systems a plus
- Experience developing chemistry programs for process water treatment systems
- Technical understanding of building automation and controls, ability to correlate reliability and availability. Capable of management and administration of building control systems
- Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and documents is essential
- Good understanding of and feeling for data center costs, and how the mechanical design impacts CAPEX and OPEX.
- Experience in vendor management, ability to manage and monitor progress to ensure objectives are achieved for outsourced maintenance and projects.
- Ability to manage, prioritize and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Ability to balance competing demands for resources and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proven ability to deliver projects on-time and adherence to deadlines.
- Proven ability to motivate disparate teams both direct and indirect to solve issues.

Required Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor/Master degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Process Engineering a plus Mechanical Engineering
- 2 years' experience, Data Center Engineering Data Center; Engineering
- 2 years' experience, Data Center Facility Operation Facility Maintenance; HVAC
- 2 years' experience, Data Center Commissioning and Integrated Testing Commissioning; Construction
- 2 years' experience, IT infrastructure deployment Servers
- 2 years' experience, vendor management People Management; Critical Environments
