Senior Marketing Communications Manager

It's a pivotal time as Worldwide Licensing & Pricing (WWLP) is transforming Microsoft's $45B+ commercial volume licensing business. As we implement massive licensing change worldwide the stakes are high. We need a seasoned leader, who can leverage readiness as a strategic asset to help enable this transformation. This person will be adept at understanding field, partner and customer needs and translating them into programs that enhance consumption, satisfaction, user experience and overall impact of readiness investments. This person will lead us in modernizing and improving the way we create, deliver and measure readiness. They must excel at project management and juggling multiple highly complex programs to exceptional results.

Key responsibilities include:
Develop and execute a strategy that readies field and partners for the next generation of volume licensing
Deliver best in class live and on demand readiness for all High Business Impact launches
Coordinate "launch and sustain" readiness across WPG, ECIT, SMSGR and Global Operations teams
Drive continuous improvement in readiness performance through metric reviews and correction of error
Implement feedback loops to drive improvement in licensing content, delivery, and uptake
Evolve the Licensing Competency, in partnership with WPG, for a mobile-first, cloud-first world
Share best practices and guide worldwide Volume Licensing Managers on local readiness execution
Grow and up-level a community of worldwide Licensing Endorsed Trainers (LET)
Leverage key readiness systems and stakeholders across the company for opportunities to integrate
Manage budget with reliability and positive ROI

Qualifications and skills:
BA required in Business, Marketing or equivalent; MBA preferred
8+ years relevant readiness, licensing, sales, or marketing experience
Domain knowledge in software, volume licensing, and Microsoft partner eco-system
Proven record in project management, with flawless planning, execution, and optimization
Great cross-group collaboration and people skills, including leading cross functional teams
Experience leading cross organizational projects and implementing new business models and initiatives.
Ability to work effectively at all levels - from executives to individual contributors
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment; Demonstrated ability to have fun

Do you have a challenger mentality, stellar communication skills, and a knack for uncovering compelling story angles? WWLP marketing is looking for a highly skilled AR/PR Manager to change perceptions of Microsoft licensing worldwide. We need someone who can build strong relationships with the most influential media & analyst groups; someone to drive thought leadership around innovative and simplified licensing; someone to craft and successfully land a new narrative through analysts, press and social media.

Key responsibilities include:
o Lead AR/PR and social media for WWLP's $45 billion business during a time of significant licensing change
o Drive thought leadership around multiple innovative and simplified licensing initiatives
o Proactively target and educate top influential media and analysts
o Craft and land engaging narratives and a unified story via analyst research, earned media and owned content
o Secure media opportunities and prepare executives for media interviews and speaking engagements
o Conduct analyst consults and briefings, leveraging Microsoft executive engagement
o Skillfully handle reactive inquiries to minimize negative exposure
o Communicate the role of licensing internally across corp AR/PR, product groups, and channel-facing teams
o Provide strategic guidance to licensing program/product managers and field stakeholders
o Use social media to amplify WWLP messages and provide valuable feedback on conversations and sentiment
o Manage the agency team and overall tactical execution of the plan including PR/AR/social budget for WWLP

Qualifications and skills:
o Bachelor's in Business, Marketing or equivalent with 5-7 years AR/PR management experience
o Familiarity with Microsoft AR/PR communications ecosystem and vendor/agency management experience
o Familiarity with volume licensing desired
o Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
o Ability to creatively solve complex problems
o Executive presence and impeccable judgement in managing confidential information
o Proven record in project management, with flawless planning, execution, evaluation and optimization
o Great cross-group collaboration, people and negotiation skills. Experience leading cross funcational teams
o Ability to thrive in a fast paced, ambiguous environment
