team is focused on building research prototypes of novel hardware+software accelerators for large-scale datacenter services, targeted at 3-5 years out. We are uniquely positioned for this charter with its combination of prominent researchers and top-notch engineers with years of experience of shipping products and services.
We are looking for a talented scientist/engineer with a proven track record of building systems that combine hardware and software in interesting ways. Since Microsoft's
scale services are traditionally written in software, without considering hardware acceleration, we are looking for engineering leadership in extending Microsoft's
services with hardware acceleration, both in terms of porting services to hardware designs, as well as building more general hardware infrastructure to accelerate datacenter services.
We are looking for someone passionate about building hardware, logic design, FPGA
architecture, and overall systems design. With
these skills, we will be able to build industry-leading services that leverage novel hardware and hardware acceleration to achieve unprecedented scale, efficiency, cost, and performance.
In this role you will:
with the talented team of researchers and engineers on designing and building hardware accelerators for datacenter services, and the services that run on them
with researchers and product groups to specify new logic blocks, infrastructure, and systems that have a disruptive effect on our services
with product groups adopting the technology to help them ramp up and learn from their experience
your own ideas and features that expand the general vision
your designs running in production
- 5+ years of systems building and/or hardware design experience
, knowledge-seeking attitude with a strong desire for business impact
design and development skills in C++ and Verilog
