The Fraud Specialist position, which sits within the Microsoft Commerce Platform's Risk Team, manages fraud detection, investigation, prevention, and mitigation strategies on behalf of numerous Microsoft businesses that provide online products and services to a global customer base. These businesses include internationally known brands such as Bing Ads, Azure, Office and Office 365, Windows Store, Windows Phone Store, Xbox Live, Microsoft Store, and many others.

The Fraud Specialist role is part data analyst, part investigator, part strategist, part program manager, part negotiator, part firefighter. Creativity, passion and tenacity are necessary traits for the successful Fraud Specialist. Each day we are presented with situations that require unique and well considered responses in order to foil relentless fraud attacks. We are the front line of defense for our company in the large and growing ecommerce space. Because of this, we are looking for a top notch Fraud Specialist to join our team.

Fraud Specialists maintain subject matter expertise on fraud detection, prevention and mitigation for the various business models utilized by each business. Each Fraud Specialist will concentrate on at least one business group, while simultaneously maintaining a working knowledge of several others in order to support team efforts as needed. Fraud Specialists are held accountable for meeting key performance indicators for their focus businesses.

Fraud Specialists must have the ability to obtain, parse and evaluate large data sets in order to segment fraudulent from non-fraudulent payment events, and further employ strong data analysis skills to devise new risk rules for real time and post-real time decisioning. The majority of data used by the Investigations team is housed in SQL databases, or within Microsoft's internal Big Data solution. Fraud Specialists must have or obtain skills to query for and analyze necessary data those realms.

Fraud Specialists collaborate closely with the Decision Science and Partner Engagement teams to drive strategies involving both real time and post-real time risk decisioning, manual review strategy, and collaborative efforts with the various business groups. These strategies must effectively protect Microsoft's bottom line from fraud attacks while also maintaining or improving customer experience for legitimate customers. Fraud Specialists must have the ability to collaborate with and influence team members with varying points of view in order to derive strong solutions to complex problems requiring expertise from multiple stakeholders.

Fraud Specialists must employ strong written and verbal communication skills in order to convey information to colleagues, business groups, and members of the leadership team regarding current fraud vectors, trends, and detection, prevention and mitigation strategies. Additionally, Fraud Specialists are expected to lead bi-weekly "Fraud Sync" meetings for the purpose of ensuring all Risk stakeholders, including member of the leadership team, are aligned regarding current fraud vectors, strategies, and action items.

Required skills:

- BA/BS or Master's degree, or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of SQL query script coding, or equivalent database experience
- 1+ years of Excel experience, including the use of pivot tables, charts and lookups
- 1+ years of experience leveraging data in investigations (criminal, civil or other investigations)

Preferred skills:

- Ecommerce fraud experience preferred
- Keen data analysis skills involving moderate to large data sets
- Ability to clearly communicate information to stakeholders in an individual or group setting
- Strong collaboration skills
- Agility to move seamlessly across multiple challenges in a very fast-paced environment
- Big Data experience
- Ability to influence without authority
- Experience in network and security, especially in the context of cloud services, online advertising and/or mobile app marketplaces
- Experience with fraud and risk involving the CNP sale of physical goods sold online
