Microsoft Manufacturing Supply Chain is driving the development of new hardware solutions that brings new and exciting experiences to the user. The Materials & Failure analysis organization is supporting this objective by providing effective Material Characterization and Failure Analysis solutions that meets the needs of the business and drive improvements back into the product development group in addition to driving continuous improvement along the complete supply chain.

This role will be responsible for material characterization Design of Experiments in the early phase of hardware development. In addition this role will be responsible for engaging with development, material sourcing, and manufacturing within Microsoft partners to support failure analysis throughout the product lifecycle. He/She will also be required to provide guidance and oversight to external suppliers for failure analysis performed externally.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge Mechanical and Material Science in support of failure analysis and material Characterization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

The successful candidate must be organized and be able to work independently with little direct supervision. BS/MS in Mechanical or Material Science Engineering is required. The successful candidate will be expected to travel as part of the engagement with different suppliers/venders.
