Role & Opportunity:
The Surface Team is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Hardware Design Verification Engineering Lead. You will be responsible for staffing and managing the hardware testing activities of your team, covering all hardware subsystems of a complex hardware program. You will develop and lead your team to create comprehensive system test strategies and plans that bridge high level use cases to display architecture/design. You will provide critical analysis on test data and drive the right solutions, design changes, and trade-off in the context of business priorities. You and your team will create and introduce innovative test techniques, methods and tools to ensure robust product qualification. In addition, you will utilize your knowledge of critical performance data and your statistical data analysis techniques to set product test requirements and limits. You will also lead test strategy discussions, develop test methodologies and plans, execute test procedures, debug/bring-up and project-manage qualification cycles.

The position involves working closely with electrical engineers, industrial designers, hardware engineers, software engineers, component engineers, and program managers. These span across seams with component vendors, manufacturing test, and reliability organizations.

Qualifications:
Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or able to demonstrate EE fundementatls.
5 years' experience designing and testing modern electronics hardware and firmware at component, board, and system levels
Proven capability to define successful test plans, procedures, and reports which drive product decisions
Project leadership skills. Track record of ownership of verification deliverables for assigned platforms and/or subsystems
People Management skills of hiring and leading test teams
Excellent track-record for root cause analysis/debugging of product issues
Fast learner, able to scale knowledge to breadth of complex, consumer focused products
Proven test subject matter expert with thought leadership in the cross functional team
Strong communication and presentation skills required

Preferred experience include:
Preferred experience in hardware prototype bring-up, debug, fault detection, failure analysis, and yield
Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven
Domestic and international travel required
Experience in customer facing engagements around quality issues

The Surface team is recruiting for an imaging engineer to develop image capture and evaluation methods to be used in the camera development process. Responsibilities will include development and implementation of data capture APIs, database development and implementation of image quality analysis algorithms. Candidates should have experience with C, C++, and C# and demonstrate capability in both low level driver development and modern UI development methodologies for diagnostic level data collection systems. Experience with imaging processing algorithms and understanding general imaging technologies is required.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of image capture, processing and evaluation methods and algorithms
Ability to transfer MatLab algorithms into system program languages
Working knowledge of C, C++ and C# programming methods
Proven ability to work independently and drive projects to completion.

Education/work experience:
BS, MS or PhD in EE, Computer Science, Image Processing or equivalent is required
At least five years of industry work experience
At least three years of image quality or processing work experience

The Surface video team is recruiting for a camera imaging engineer to provide imaging system data collection planning and execution, camera characterization and evaluation. Daily work includes process design, image quality data collection across a range of lighting conditions, analysis and presentation of data with recommendations to the image quality team.

BS, MS or PhD in EE, Color Science or equivalent technical degree is required
At least two years of relevant experience in imaging, video or display processing
Hands-on experience in design, development and launch of high-volume consumer electronic products is a plus.
Demonstrated working knowledge of image, video and display processing
Knowledge of digital signal processing and its applications to image and video processing.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl and/or Python.

Surface is hiring an antenna laboratory manager. This role involves managing the antenna laboratory and working closely with antenna design engineers. The candidate should hold an associate's degree in a technical field.
The candidate should be familiar with RF product development practices, should be familiar with multiple antenna fabrication technologies, and be proficient in operating laboratory equipment used to fabricate antennas. The candidate will use PADS schematic\PCB software to collaborate with antenna engineers to generate schematics and PCB layouts to support antenna prototyping requirements.
Must be able to operate a Satimo SG64 chamber for passive and active testing (TRP\TIS), and be able to perform regular maintenance calibration checks with the chamber using calibrate reference antennas.
Must be able to operate and maintain liquid-based SAR measurement equipment in the laboratory. Must be familiar with best practices\ safety requirements for handling hazardous materials (chemicals, SAR testing liquids etc) in the laboratory.
The following skills are required:
1. PADS schematic & PCB tool capability - essentially executing prototype PCBs for the antenna development team.
2. Basic familiarity with ACAD to export files to antenna fabrication tools.
3. Operate LPKF mechanical milling machine to make antenna prototype PCBs.
4. Operate LPKF laser milling machine to fabricate prototype FPC antennas.
5. Operate LPKF LDS laser etching and plating equipment to fabricate LDS antenna prototypes
6. Operate PCB plating equipment to fabricate RF\antenna boards with through-hole vias.
7. Perform daily calibration checks with Satimo SG64 chamber (requires knowledge of Satimo operation, calibration antenna setup and cabling best practices)
8. Perform active antenna testing (TRP\TIS) in Satimo SG64.
9. Perform SAR testing using IndexSAR liquid based SAR test equipment. Ability to perform calibration tests on liquid samples and update calibration files to ensure equipment operation within target performance limits.
10. Ability to set up and perform dielectric sample testing using RF network analyzer and dedicated test fixturing for DK\LT characterization.
11. 10+ years' experience with the use of network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and basic RF circuit debug and evaluation skills.
12. Maintain calibration and functionality of RF test equipment in RF\antenna lab.
13. Maintain SAR liquid storage, hazardous chemical storage and waste chemical storage lockers in antenna lab.

Electrical Engineer for hardware system design:

Minimum requirements:
MSEE or equivalent
At least 1 year experience in Mobile Device system hardware design & verification, have emphasis on CPU, GPU, Memory, UI Hardware, and IO interfaces areas.
Proficiency with schematic & PCB layout and analysis
Proficient on circuit simulation, correlation, and SI measurement (analog, board level SI, power SI)
Knowledge of designing for massive production quality.
Hands-on for HW bring up & issue debug, system level troubleshooting, engineering proto mockup
Experience on power consumption measurement
Knowledge of SW image downloading & system bring up
Knowledge of different debugging tools for different HW platforms
Lab view programming for test automation is a plus
Demonstrated track record working with external suppliers, preferably in high-volume products
Experience translating system-level requirements into component-level requirements
Ability to contribute constructively to technical debate that leads to better designs
Team-oriented approach with the desire to both teach and learn from others
Excellent written and oral communication
