The Surface development team is seeking qualified candidates to drive and define display system at both the component and system level by working with external display partners and internal engineering teams to deliver the best experience to our customers. In this position you will lead and drive the overall technology selection, define display specification, and work with internal and external display partners from start to manufacturing. You will closely collaborate and partner with Tier1, Tier2 development partners in driving new technology, product development for high volume. Assess technology, Component and system, sub-system process.

Key responsibilities follow:

Define Display specs for new Surface products
Technical interface and management of display suppliers
Technology development - next generation displays, backplane, Display+Touch development and integration, display interface

The position involves working closely with operations, electrical, mechanical, software, test, and component engineers, and program managers in feature, sub-system selection and driving system level tradeoffs.

- Broad optical engineering background, including physical optics, geometric optics, Materials science, chemistry, Optical evaluation.
- In depth understanding of display technologies and components - OLED, LCD, Backlight.
- Excellent project management, communication and teamwork.
- Detail oriented, excellent analytical skills, hands on problem solving skills.
- Excellent written, oral communication skills to align development, operations and partner teams.
MS, PhD with 2+ years' experience in Display engineering, development.
