We are a small team of cross-disciplinary experts within a new organization in Microsoft Research. Our team is focused on accelerating and enhancing our organization's capabilities from conception to go-to-market execution.
We are looking for a Product Marketing Manager to be part of our team: a marketing genius with a solid understanding of technical planning, strategy and business development.

The Product Marketing Manager will consult for various projects within the organization in the creation, development and launch of future products. This includes evaluating new technologies, designing and comparing different go-to-market scenarios, designing and testing customer feedback collection models, gathering market requirements, assisting in the formulation of product line strategies, working with cross functional teams during the product development phase, helping create product messaging briefs, developing product launch materials, coordinating with company-wide marketing teams and helping to land the right messaging in press briefings and public events. The successful candidate will also bring proven skills in developing and managing relationships with external partners.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working on a portfolio of projects in different stages of a product lifecycle, and enjoys the challenges and opportunities of managing such a portfolio.


(A) Plan and help execute global go-to-market product marketing launch strategies and initiatives in support of all project launches. Optimize for successful launch (mindshare) and market adoption (market share) objectives.
(B) Work closely with project leaders and other strategists on the team to drive market and product segmentation and industry analysis, and use that to inform the product positioning, messaging and external communications for each product. Help define the value propositions, differentiation for the product offerings and influence key feature decisions.
(B) Collaborate with product/program management, product experience, customer insights and research experts to influence the product roadmap; research and evaluate launch of features, experiences and services that enhance customer experience, retention, monetization and achieve business, brand and marketing KPIs.
(C) Partner closely with cross-functional teams across global marketing, including product marketing, channel marketing, digital marketing, partner marketing, media, PR, web, e-commerce and others to deliver launch and campaign assets. Be the expert on identifying the key conversations that we need to be part of, and be responsible for planning and execution of strategies to keep the organization relevant to those conversations.
(D) Develop and manage monthly, quarterly and annual product marketing plans that achieve business objectives. Monitor, analyze and report out on launches, key initiatives and the competitive landscape.


o 3-5+ years of product marketing or product management experience required. Background in strategic consulting, product planning, PR/Communications or business development is a plus.
o Expertise in consumer, developer or enterprise marketing, with good familiarity with the others.
o Experience working closely with communications and PR teams and agencies.
o Knowledge of online business models and internet/consumer technology.
o Degree in Marketing, Business or related field. MBA preferred. BS/MS in a technical field or equivalent technical understanding is highly desirable.
