Role & Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Program Management Manager who has a proven track record through several product cycles. You will be responsible for leading the definition and development from concept to prototype to implementation. You will work with internal and external partner teams, executive management, architects, development, quality assurance, user experience, operating system, and manufacturing & supply chain teams to align objectives, create functional specifications, implement a plan, and ultimately deliver a high-quality product. The successful candidate will have effective written and oral communication skills, excellent cross-organizational and project management skills and thrive in a highly innovative, evolving and ambiguous environment.

Required skills:
Minimum of 7+ years working as a technical program manager or other engineering discipline defining, driving, and shipping products through multiple ship cycles.
Held responsibility for the creation of functional specifications, project schedules and building plans to deliver against cost, schedule and performance commitments.
Enthusiastic, attention to detail, results oriented, organized, motivated and self-driven.
Strong strategic leadership and analytical skills.
Solid critical thinking and questioning skills.
High degree of flexibility - willing to fill in the gaps rather than relying on others.
Strong technical background, especially in electrical or electronics engineering, with a passion for shipping products.
Experience with hardware design.
Experience with hardware partner development is a plus.
Bachelor Degree required or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities:
Define product investments to enable vision.
Justify and prioritize the feature set against the vision and strategy.
Write detailed functional or requirement specifications that enable product engineering to execute.
Align investments with internal / external partner teams.
Evangelize the feature set across engineering, business and senior leadership.
Drive the execution and delivery using common engineering tools, triage, tracking and reporting aligning to product milestones.
Anticipate risks; assess, mitigate, and manage accordingly.
Organize and present program reviews/status to engineering, business, and senior management.
Develop and protect intellectual property.
Domestic and international travel required.

Director of Program Management - Ecosystem Accessories

Role and Opportunity

The Surface Product Planning team drives the roadmap and product planning activities ensuring Surface continues to deliver products that delight customers - and meet long term business goals. The Product Planning team also leads the organization through important business decisions, helping to make informed choices in a timely matter. We are a team that is built on influence, synthesis, and thinking holistically and cross-functionally about a problem.
The Product Planning team is looking for a driven and highly accomplished individual who wants to have a significant impact on the future of the PC Hardware business. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to drive the product and business strategy via consumer research, competitive analysis, industry analysis, and ultimately synthesizing recommendations to the technical and business leadership teams. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with sales and marketing to define the business plan for Microsoft branded PC and tablet accessories, and with development and manufacturing partners to deliver this plan.

Key Deliverables:

o Three year roadmap to deliver desired business growth targets
o Partner with Sales, Marketing and Microsoft Asian Center for HW (MACH) to ensure the business is continuing to grow and delivering the desired gross margin targets.
o Internal and external product evangelization
o Deliver P&L business targets for PC Hardware

Key Interfaces:

The PC Hardware Planner works closely with the Sales, Marketing and Development (MACH) to ensure that the right cross ecosystem accessories are being developed and are being marketed and sold to the right channels to deliver the business targets. The PC Hardware Planner will also partner tightly with finance to ensure the business continues to deliver the desired margin targets.

Key Qualifications:

o Dealing with Ambiguity and Self-Motivation : Strong track record of accomplishment delivering results in highly matrixed organizations with impact.
o High Degree of flexibility - willing to fill in the gaps rather than relying on others.
o Cross Group Collaboration : Strong track record of collaborating well with others up and down the organizational hierarchy and across a wide range of functions. Proven capability of collaborating with Program Management is a significant plus.
o Project Management Rigor and Follow Through : You should have proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive schedules where your vteam members feel well informed and confident in your ability to execute.
o Travel : 25-50%

Mandatory Qualifications:

o At least 5 years of experience on consumer technology products in at least one of the following functions : Engineering Management, Product Planning, Product Management
o Must have 10+ years related industry experience
o Minimum 7 years of product planning, product management, engineering management or program management experience
