The Microsoft Direct Business Sales Director of Business Sales Operations will be a leader seeking a high impact, high visibility sales operations position that will influence the future course of Microsoft's direct sales channel as part of the retail stores team. To be successful in this key role, the candidate should possess a strong passion for process management, teaching, driving results and world class customer service. This role will also require a leader who has successfully collaborated with multiple organizations and has shown clear leadership when dealing with constant change. He/she must be highly motivated, highly organized and a self-starter.


Primary responsibilities include the following: Microsoft Store Business Desk Leadership - program definition, process improvement, compliance, etc., field support, sales solution architecture and delivery management, daily lead/pipeline/sales forecast reporting, internal and communications with Microsoft Direct leadership.

This position will also be responsible for the development and deployment of end to end processes to support a dynamic and expanding direct business sales organization with a Reno-based business desk and more than 50 field business sales specialists. Generally called the "Quote to Cash" business process. Experience in system engineering, operational and financial controls design, process creation and business process reengineering is required.

The ability to acquire and maintain an elite level of product knowledge in all Microsoft products and service offerings is a must. This leader must be an example of the Microsoft vision of the long term customer relationship by providing solutions to 'new' purchasers that meet their needs and exceed their expectations. His/hers goal must be to engage, educate, excite, and empower both customers and team members alike by embracing the optimistic, positive, customer centric culture of the Microsoft Direct organization. A passion for micro businesses, including unmanaged schools, and favorably impacting local economies is important.

- Reporting to the Sr. Director, Microsoft Direct Business Solutions (MDBS), and working cross functionally with the Retail Stores HQ and field teams, this person will oversee retail business sales operations processes for the business sales cycle.
- He/she will own training for sales operations and assess field training opportunities to increase compliant sales.
- He/she will be the primary point of contact for overseeing the policies and procedures for the quote to cash process and will also provide support for daily store communications and other team initiatives for MDBS
- Enable and support business sales across all retail channel formats to achieve budgets
- Be both the visible leader in the Field and at HQ for business sales operations
- Position requires 75% travel.


- BA/BS degree, MBA or graduate degree in engineering, accounting, or finance preferred.
- 12+ years of experience business sales for a retailer, distributor or value added reseller
- 12+ years of experience in people management, hiring, career development and leading a team to achieve common and individual goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work and lead through influence in a cross-group environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate uncertain situations to drive for clarity
- Substantial business sales operations experience with a deep understanding of compliance issues in a large, complex sales organization
- A track record of working well with internal and external audiences as a spokesperson and advocate
- - Ability to travel more than 75% of time. Position is based in Redmond, WA with significant travel to Reno, NV (2x per month, or more)
