The Customer and Market Research (CMR) is leader in market intelligence and insights servicing Microsoft's Business strategies and product goals. A key area of focus in on the developer community. Developers are at the core of Microsoft's historic and future success. It is a broad and diverse technical audience who have expanded and evolved in today's modern computing architectures and fuel the Apps marketplace.

The Developer & Data Platform Research Team is looking for an intellectually curious, analytically grounded, results driven and deeply passionate individual to lead our research work on Developers. This consultant is responsible for delivering forward thinking, high-impact and actionable market insights related to the developer community. These insights will be structured to enable a variety of stakeholders to make informed and timely decisions, specifically focused on how to market, sell, and compete for the hearts and minds of developers.

This research consultant will be responsible for understanding business group priorities and market drivers that yield actionable insights specifically focused on software developers, tools, platforms, DevOps, and app ecosystems. The broad multifaceted nature of audience research demands individuals with organizational agility and proven project management expertise. The ideal candidate will have at least 7-10 years of subject matter knowledge on Developers, tools, platforms, languages and methods. Experience as a Developer or architect strongly preferred.

Specific responsibilities include:

Build and maintain strong internal stakeholder relationships, understanding priorities and challenges
Analyze and deliver research that provides insights across developers and the developer ecosystem
Manage and deliver research portfolio across a diverse set of business requirements
Deliver strong collaborate across CMG research that deliver a single face of market research

Preferred Skills & Experience

Strong knowledge of analytic and modeling tools with an ability to draw out key insights.
Must be knowledgeable with different research techniques statistical techniques
Excellent communications, storytelling, and influencing skills
Project management (PMP) certification or proven track record project management.
Highly proficient with Excel and Power Point

Minimum Requirements

7-10 years developer tools, platforms and system or equivalent market research
Experience in research or business planning for technology or B2B
Bachelor's degree
