Overview

The Microsoft Device Design Studio is building a world class in house team. We live for building transformative product experiences that resonate with consumers. We are looking for passionate designers who want to visualize groundbreaking devices and experiences for Xbox, Wearable Devices and other emerging categories for Microsoft.

Primary Responsibilities

This is a product visualization position within the Microsoft Device Design Studio. You will be joining a team that works end to end in product design. Creating compelling and realistic 3D imagery of products from concept to final design, the right candidate will possess strong skills in creating high end imagery using Maya + Vray. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, 3D modeling skills, experience in traditional photography, and a solid understanding of how light and materials behave in the real world. You will work with product designers to bring product concepts to life before they physically exist.

We expect a 3D Artist that is excellent in the following:

Convert files from various CAD formats to OBJ and import into Maya
Communicate with product designers to understand all nuances of the products
Perform geometry cleanup and re-building as necessary for physically correct rendering
Tune Vray materials that accurately represent physical real-world samples
Create simple studio lighting setups that light products in a clean, professional manner
Create simple animations of products as needed
Utilize render farm hardware and software to speedup rendering tasks
Knack for coming up with brilliant product ideas and solutions.
Insight and wisdom to make thoughtful tradeoffs and decisions.
Organization: Experienced with file management, tracking program, schedule, issues, and resources.

Requirements
2-4 years of professional Maya experience
Solid understanding of CG production pipeline
Excellent skills in polygonal modeling with great topology
Strong Vray rendering skills
Compositing skills a plus
Animation skills a plus
Strong eye for detail and a high standard for quality
