The Customer and Market Research team is seeking a Senior Manager of Commercial Data Insights. We're looking for a smart, talented, confident, and experienced business analyst and research professional with a proven leadership track record. A person with a sharp analytic mind, a willingness to respectfully challenge conventional wisdom and the ability to see patterns in complex data will succeed in this role.

As the Senior Manager of Commercial Data Insights, you and your team will generate fact-based insights to help Microsoft build and market products that delight technology professionals and Business Decision Makers. Your team's knowledge and insights will help Microsoft continue to grow its multi-billion-dollar commercial business at double digit rates. Senior executives will depend on you and your team to make good, fact-based business decisions.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Manager of Commercial Data Insights will work with business partners to understand their commercial software and service business questions. The senior manager and his or her team will deliver insight that answer these questions and help executives make good decisions. The senior manager will leverage a variety of data sources and analytic tools to generate insights.

The ideal candidate will be skilled at facilitating strong partnerships with internal and external constituents, be willing to take calculated risks, have strong analytical skills, marketing research experience and the ability to direct a team of high performing analysts. A successful candidate will have the ability to:

1. Drive strategic discussions with business groups on the most effective ways to attract and delight commercial customers
2. Provide thought leadership and consultation by identifying and recommending research methods and analytical approaches that address short and long-term business objectives
3. Proactively share fact-based, forward-thinking commercial market and audience insights on a routine basis
4. Collaborate with other research managers in the execution, analysis and presentation of insights to demonstrate a holistic understanding of the business issue

Minimum Requirements
MBA or related graduate degree is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years' of research or strategy consulting work experience and a strong background in research and data analysis methodologies and how to apply them in a business context. Five or more years of business planning experience leveraging analytics, statistics and research. Five or more years of high-tech industry experience strongly desired. Note: This is a full-time position and requires the candidate to work from Redmond.
