The Microsoft Devices Design Studio is building a world class in-house design team. This is the team that creates delightful experiences for millions of people around the world. We are looking for passionate designers who aspire to craft state of the art hardware including Xbox, wearable devices and new product categories.

Primary Responsibilities:

Your ability to develop and deliver innovative technologies, new materials and advanced manufacturing processes that enable groundbreaking products is critical. This position will require a hands-on, collaborative person who will build strong strategic partnerships with Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and Materials Suppliers to deliver exceptional hardware products. Additional requirements include knowledge and practical experience in high volume consumer electronics, advanced manufacturing processes, vendor relationship management and outstanding communication abilities.

Requirements:
oKnowledge of materials and manufacturing processes common to the consumer electronics industry
oAble to develop and apply new technologies and materials to real world consumer products by partnering with global suppliers
oFamiliarity with decoration techniques on plastic and metal parts using films, paints and printing
oA strong understanding of color theory including the ability to score a Superior on the Munsell 100 Hue Test
oExperience designing and shipping innovative and complex products within deadlines
oStrong visual and communication skills
oAbility to build team alignment around complex, innovative design solutions
oA bachelor's degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering, product design or related discipline is required
oWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
oA minimum of 7 years' related work experience designing within a collaborative environment required
oWilling to travel overseas 25-30 percent
