Azure Cloud Solution Architect (CSA)

Microsoft is seeking experienced and dynamic cloud solution architects to advise a targeted set of enterprise customers on how to apply Microsoft Azure for their cloud solution projects. Microsoft Azure is an open platform enabling hosting of both Windows and Linux Virtual Machines and applications developed in many frameworks including .NET, Java, Node.js, and PHP. Come join the Azure ISV team in the Enterprise Partner Group (EPG) as a Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) and be front and center in our customer's transformation to cloud-based architectures while at the same time playing an influential role in Microsoft's transformation to a mobile-first, cloud-first company.

Enterprise Partners is responsible for driving partner led sales for WW EPG. This team of high caliber professionals are chartered to build partnerships with system integrators (SIs) worldwide and independent software vendors (ISVs), help them build solutions leveraging Microsoft technologies and orchestrate the partner engine with the Microsoft field teams to drive solution sales across the world
One of the primary engines Enterprise Partner's had developed to drive partner led sales is Partner Enterprise Architect team (PEAT). Since its creation over 4 years ago, the PEAT team has been working with Microsoft's System Integrators (GSIs/SIs/NSIs) partners globally, providing them with access to senior Microsoft architects to assist with their customer opportunities and thereby increasing the partner win rate on Microsoft Platform

As a Cloud Solution Architect (CSA), your primary responsibility with be to work with partners / ISV in moving customer workloads and product offering to Azure. The CSA is a technical customer / partner facing role that will be accountable for the end-to-end customer cloud deployment experience. You will own the Azure technical customer engagement through partners including assessment workshops, specific implementation projects and/or Proofs of Concept (POCs).
The ideal candidate will have experience in customer / partner facing roles, worked in a services / consulting organization and had success leading technical and economic value discussions with senior customer executives that drive key decisions and implementation. The success of this role depends on collaboration with generalists and specialists in our partner ecosystem and the Microsoft field teams (including Services, Product engineering and other pre-sales roles).

In this role, you would be responsible for:
o Interfacing with both the generalists and specialists in our partner ecosystem and the Microsoft field teams (including services, product engineering and other pre-sales roles) focused on consumption of the Azure platform in high potential accounts
o Working with Microsoft account teams of the high potential accounts and agree on the priority partners that need to be engaged in each of these accounts
o Driving partner-led Azure consumption in the high-potential accounts that will include the below:
o Collaborating with identified partners in executing quick technical feasibility and proposal development for moving identified workloads to Azure (i.e. quick and dirty, comfortable with 80-20 rule)
o Building a technical and security architecture in Azure for the selected apps/workloads
o Lead compliance assessments and application portfolio assessment with the customer on designed Azure architecture
o Selecting a migration approach to lift and shift the workloads to Azure or architecting a greenfield development and/or production platform for new applications
o Executing limited POCs, if necessary
o Driving the quality of the onboarding plan with partners
o Reporting to customer as business objectives / business value conditions are met
o Ensuring plan execution and Azure consumption targets are met
o Documenting and sharing technical best practices / insights with engineering and the architect community
o Key Qualifications:
o Understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends
o Proven track record of building technical and business relationships with senior executives and growing wallet share in large or highly strategic accounts
o Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through
o Problem-solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources, where and when needed, to do what's right for the customer, partner and for the organization (i.e. think through workarounds, evaluate risk of various deployment options, etc.)
o Exceptional verbal and written communication
o Ability to connect technology with measurable business value
o Demonstrated technical thought leadership in customer facing situations

o 5+ years of management and success in consultative / complex sales processes (where necessary, managing various stakeholders (Primary: TDM, Secondary: BDM) relationships to get consensus on solution / projects
o 5+ years of architecting & consulting experience in the context of a services organization such as large system integrators
o 5+ year's design and/or implementation and/or support of highly distributed applications (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.)
o 2+ years' experience in "migrating" on premise workloads to the public cloud / hybrid cloud
o Experience in defining TCO / ROI models for public cloud movement
o Deep experience in AGILE development, SCRUM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) with programming experience in one or more of the following areas:
o .NET
o C++
o Java
o Perl
o Python
o Ruby on Rails
o Pig/Hive
o Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure components:
? Software design or development
? Systems Operations / Management
? Database architecture
? Virtualization
? IP Networking
? Storage
? IT Security
o Technical prowess and passion-especially for Windows Azure, modern Application design practices and principles.
o Oversight experience on major transformation projects and successful transitions to implementation support teams
o Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences
o Technical BS degree, Computer Science or Math background highly desired, MBA optional
oThis role require some travel up to 25%. Mainly Domestic. Occasionally international.
