In the DX Audience and Platform Evangelism division, we want to give developers, across the globe, unique and rich experiences, designed to help them innovate and build amazing applications for their users. The team's charter spans the delivery of deep audience insights, competitive analysis, end-to-end developer GTM planning, as well as effective storytelling through branding, messaging and content.

For this unique role - Sr. Developer Planning & Insights Lead - we are seeking a top-notch, bold/strategic thinker and business analyst who will identify opportunities and conduct business analyses that influence the company-wide developer audience evangelism & product agenda and then translate that into action by leading the business planning capability. In this role, you will need to anticipate market and technology changes and trends, envision how these advances will bring about new opportunities and/or challenges and translate this insight into initiatives to advance the business and audience goals, strategy and execution plans. You will deliver the developer audience Research & Competitive Insights agenda to deepen our insights and influence cross-company efforts to rapidly improve mindshare, preference and adoption of Microsoft technologies versus toupetition in a highly dynamic global developer ecosystem. This research agenda will be key input into the development and ongoing optimization of our strategy and execution plans. You will ensure our GTM efforts deliver maximum impact by leading the definition of the developer audience narrative and editorial plan, which will specific how, when and what we deliver to market. In this role, you'll play critical role in both the development of our forward-thinking strategy AND also in our execution against that strategy.

Key Competencies and Responsibilities:
Influence and Impact
o Finds new applications for, and demonstrates the relevance of, emerging insights, competitive dynamics and/or technologies to influence decision-making and opportunities.
o Drives the DX Developer Audience Research agenda, incubation projects and long-term planning exercises to move the strategic direction toward more robust, viable and potentially revolutionary audience evangelism & business outcomes.
o Lead external and internal business planning efforts across the Developer Evangelism team

Strategic Thinking
o Forecasts the likely evolution of state-of-the-art technologies, audience & competitive trends and applies insights about how and when new technologies will be adopted and how we might best respond.
o Influences audience, technology and business trends and makes strategic choices in the design of a research portfolio for optimal impact.
o Creates key aspects of a vision for driving audience evangelism for business and competitive impact.

Communication
o Articulates audience and competitive insights in a timely and digestible manner to drive actionable results and shape company-wide thinking.

Relationships and Collaboration
o Facilitates cross-company collaboration to create a network for company-wide audience insights and learning to influence audience evangelism impact and cross-company behavior.
o Leverages his or her collaborative network to improve audience & project plans through constructive inquiry, engagement, and discussion.
o Facilitates collaboration between key influentials (both internal and external) to create a lasting company network.

Key Deliverables:
o Define and drive the company's Developer Audience Tracker (DET) strategy, agenda and communications cadence aligned to the Dev NSAT metric on the DX scorecard.
o Define and drive Developer Audience Segmentation/Sizing and land it across the company and senior leadership.
o Lead internal and external planning efforts that result in vision document, audience narrative, editorial calendar, etc.
o Demonstrate impact and influence across all levels of the company through credible and timely articulation of research and audience/competitive insights work.

Qualifications & Experience:
You'll need to build new partnerships across levels and teams at Microsoft to enable a more connected approach across the company. The ability to influence for impact is extremely important and we are looking for a proactive driver with a collaborative, outcome-driven reputation.
This role requires a strong knowledge of (and passion for) the global developer audience and related technologies. The ideal candidate will be well versed in developer communication preferences and poised to influence our marketing mix going forward.
You must have an open-minded approach to strategic business planning and display a knack for challenging convention. The ideal candidate will be forward thinking and have the analytical ability to articulate a strategic vision and then deliver against it.
Experience leading and driving multiple complex projects spanning different business and disciplines with a laser sharp customer-focus.
Ability to analyze and diagnose complex product and business challenges, formulate solutions, and then motivate the broader organization to pragmatic action.
Poise and composure dealing with senior field and corp leaders both inside and outside Microsoft, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills that are persuasive will be key to success.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years in the technology marketing space with a proven track record of leading analytics and research initiatives at (global) scale. A business and/or technical degree is required, MBA preferred.
