Account Technology Strategist
Midwest District EPG Team
Location: Chicago area (Downers Grove or Chicago)

Microsoft is looking for an Account Technology Strategist (ATS) in a high profile, customer-facing role that is the primary technical face and orchestration point for key telecom, media and entertainment customers in Microsoft's Retail and Manufacturing industry organization. The position is based in Chicago area,

Candidates should have a strong, proven IT background and demonstrate familiarity with the broad range of Microsoft products and solutions. The candidate must be able to (1) build and maintain "trusted advisor" relationships with key IT decision makers, including Enterprise Architects, and IT Directors, (2) drive adoption of Microsoft products and solutions, and (3) identify new opportunities for MS within the account. The ATS works closely with the Account Executive, Technical Account Managers, and Solution Specialists to help define and execute territory and account strategies. You will be responsible for developing the account technology vision and strategy to support the overall business objectives for Microsoft and customers. You will lead technical resources in communicating the value of Microsoft's products, solutions and partners to a broad range of people across multiple customers, and drive relationships with technical leaders from senior executives and down. The role includes coordinating and guiding the account team on all technology related matters. A strong leader is required to ensure Microsoft deploys its best resources, well-briefed, in front of the Customer. Microsoft is looking for a self-starter who is passionate about making immediate contributions in the following areas:

Drive Customer Satisfaction
o Create a technology leaders relationship plan
o Take over and expand the growing technical peer-peer relationships
o Create a winning holistic plan that ensures your customers programmatic early access to Microsoft new technologies
o Focus specifically on ensuring satisfaction with core infrastructure and security solutions
o Develop deployment and upgrade strategies to keep your customers deploying the latest versions

Grow our platform
o Orchestrate regular project meetings with key customers to ensure close cooperation and collaboration between customer project teams and Microsoft resources.
o Develop a multi-year technology vision and roadmap based on furthering the IO models that supports the business plan
o Identify key MUST WIN project areas and resources needed to succeed - including Services and partners
o Identify key technical competitive threats and develop a strategy - including partners and services - to counter & win.

Win new business (revenue)
o Develop a plan to pull through demand for new and subscription products
o Actively involve presales and product group resources
o Integrate with Account Manager, Services Executives and Technical Account Managers to systematically identify winnable Services opportunities
o Ability to manage and orchestrate complex opportunities, building and defining execution plans in conjunction with customer

Interpersonal development success
o Execute best practices in virtual teaming
o Continue to develop yourself as a technical leader at Microsoft and in your community
o Develop key relationships with Microsoft product teams
o Work with Business and IT decision-makers to understand the customers' business, IT imperatives, and initiatives

Key Success Criteria
o Credible technical leader and Microsoft trusted advisor to the CIOs, CTOs, Enterprise Architects, and IT Directors,
o Broad technical knowledge with deep experience - ideally inside and outside Microsoft
o Ability to think strategically, then organize people and ideas to execute with excellence
o Good personal network inside Microsoft and knowledge of how to get things done
o Passion for understanding of the customer's key business drivers, technology infrastructure & technical strategy

Qualifications for this position include:
o 8+ years' experience in large enterprise accounts, ideally in supporting software or IT services
o Broad knowledge of large global enterprise IT architecture, engineering and operations
o Proven technical and leadership experience in the IT industry
o Planning, risk analysis, and business justification experience
o Demonstrable and proven customer facing experience gained with a major vendor, consultancy, or systems integrator
o Pre-sales experience or consultative selling
o Ability to manage executive meetings to achieve objectives
o Strong sense of initiative and willing to be accountable for success
o Solid understanding of Microsoft technologies and strategic directions or a solid understanding of competitive solutions and the ability to quickly gain solid understanding of Microsoft technologies, solutions, and business value
o Travel required
