Attorney, Licensing Law The Licensing Law Group has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney (with some transactional or IP experience) to join our small, but highly agile, team. As a member of the Licensing Law team, you'll enjoy a stimulating, fast-paced environment with smart and creative people, and have the opportunity to strategically impact the future of Microsoft's patent licensing business. The ideal candidate has a passion for technology, loves providing practical business advice, and has some transactional experience (or demonstrated interest in acquiring same). The ideal candidate enjoys the science and art of drafting and negotiating agreements, analyzing license agreements for strategic coverage purposes and enthusiastically embraces the opportunity to navigate through complex challenges.

Responsibilities: Draft and negotiate licensing, acquisition, divestiture and other patent-related agreements, often in a team context Work with product groups to ensure Microsoft's patent strategy is deeply integrated with its broader product and cloud strategy Support Microsoft's licensing interests within litigation, regulatory, compliance and policy contexts Work closely with a variety of internal technical, business and legal contacts and external consultants to assist in the valuation of Microsoft's intellectual property assets Counsel and educate product and business clients, and other Microsoft
Qualifications: JD or international equivalent with an active license to practice in the US. 5+ years of experience in support of technology-related businesses Technical undergraduate studies in computer science, engineering, math or related fields a plus Ability to both "think big" and be detailed-oriented is a must Successful track record working in team environments with highly skilled professional colleagues Excellent communications skills, a natural bias for action, and creative problem-solving skills are a must First-chair experience as a technology licensing attorney or prior patent or open
